Good that we have the budget for all these "analysts". Not real sure I understand all of this but if CNS approves of this then it is okay with me.

I'm trying to figure out the degree of benefit these "analysts" bring to our team. They cannot communicate with the players, but they can sit in on coaches' meetings? How much "say so" do they have within those meetings other than disclosing their observations? How will Griffin work with Daboll regarding the offense?

I seem to remember one of those analysts noticed how Clemson lined up for kickoffs, that one man lined up too far inside the hash. I don't know what that was worth but think they look for tendencies and weaknesses.

It could be that CNS brings these guys on as analysts as a trial run to judge their capabilities. Also with the current turnover in offensive staff it provides him with an inventory of "built in replacements".

Saban does this like the NFL teams do it - they have specialists for everything. In college they call them analysts. The most recent example would be Sark. He had one job at Alabama - 3rd down analysis. His focus was on converting 3rd downs on offense and stopping 3rd downs on defense. One thing. Look at the stats, year over year, and you can see the difference that one analyst can make.

Each analyst has a very narrow job, and the assumption is that each helps the team be better prepared in every phase of each game. It is a huge advantage - having the money to hire these guys. The coaches only have to coach. They no longer have to game plan at all. At most schools, coaches have to do it all.

With the kinda turn-over we've had on our Coaching Staff since Coach Saban has been our HC..I think it's a great idea to have coaches like Werner having some sort of role on the Coaching Staff, if he doesn't leave for another school, he will move up on our Coaching Staff as other coaches moves on to other jobs..

With his history of running the HUNH Offense & how well respected he is at developing QB's..I think it's a great hire & will be just a matter of time before gets promoted to a on the field position on our Coaching Staff...

I wonder if it`s not a combo. Both game planning and potential succession planning as mentioned.

Exactly..One thing we know is every move Coach Saban does within our Football Program, he does them with specific reasons in mind, everything he does he factors in possible scenarios of coaches moving on or possible situations that could arise..This hire will help mitigate those affects to the team & our Players to a minimum..It's truly fascinating to watch "The Process" from our perspective as Bama Fans..

I wonder what the working demands are for an Analyst making $40,000? They can't have contact with recruits or on field contact with players as with true assistant coaches. Despite the pay i could see where a job like this could be attractive. It definitely seems that coach has turned the analyst role into an assistant-coach-in-waiting program.

That's just monetary compensation, benefits package could be very awesome.

Probably more film watching than you can imagine.

I don't remember saying this, But can Offense analyst works with the players in the summer time? WE know they can't work with them in the fall during the season, but what about off season?

It is my understanding that they cannot do any coaching, ever.

One obvious reason would be to prep a defense. What offense have we had trouble with the past 3 seasons? If he brings insight that helps us stop OM, CNS would pay him a full salary just for that.

I'd say we've had more trouble coping with the Ferraris OM purchased under the table to put on the field. You are correct that their style of offense is a thorn in everyone's side but I have strong feeling we won't have too much trouble with OM for a few years.
