TUSCALOOSA, AL –
Alabama baseball extended its winning streak to five games, claiming a 14-1 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday evening. The win moves the Crimson Tide to 8-5 overall.

"I told our guys tonight that we had to come out and finish 27 outs," said Alabama head coach Greg Goff. "I felt like our guys did a really good job of getting out to a lead early and then letting Jake (Walters) settle in. Tonight, we had an opportunity to relax a little bit. This is the first game we had where we kind of extended a lead, so it's good to have an opportunity to see some other guys get to play."

Alabama used 13 hits and a season-high 10 walks to score 14 runs, the most in a single contest during this early campaign. The offense was highlighted by three-hit efforts from Chandler Avant, who went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored, and Cobie Vance, who finished 3-for-4 with a double, a team-high tying three RBI and one run scored. Tanner DeVinny also contributed a three-RBI night, collecting his second home run in as many starts and finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk.

The Crimson Tide received another strong start from Jake Walters (3-1), who struck out five batters across his 6.0 innings of work to collect his third win of the season. The junior tossed a season-high 95 pitches and limited the Golden Lions' offense to five hits, a walk and one earned run. The threesome of Zac Rogers, Tyler McMurray and Tyler Adams combined to pitch the final three scoreless frames, with each reliever throwing an inning apiece. McMurray and Adams both made their first appearances of the season in tonight's contest.

Alabama staked itself to an early advantage, going up 7-0 after the first two frames. Avant led off the game with a double off the fence in left before advancing to third on a groundout by Logan Carey. With a runner on third, Vance lined a single to center to cross the game's first run. Vance was followed by Hunter Alexander, who delivered a triple to score one and make it a 2-0 affair. Chandler Taylor walked in the next at-bat, before DeVinny cleared the bases with a homer to right to push the lead to 5-0 in the Tide's favor.

The second inning rally started with a leadoff single from Sam Finnerty. One batter later, Carey doubled to center to put two on for Vance. A bases-clearing double from the Tide second baseman plated the pair of runners and put Alabama in front, 7-0, through the first two stanzas.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff plated its lone run of the game in the top of the third. The Golden Lions used a two-out single followed by a triple to cross their first run of the night. Alabama answered back in the fifth, scoring four runs to widen the margin to 11-1. Taylor and DeVinny both walked to begin the inning and were followed by a Cody Henry single that loaded the bases. In the next at-bat, a bases-loaded walk to Connor Short pushed one run across. Finnerty followed with an infield groundout that scored the second run of the inning and moved the other two runners up 90 feet. With two in scoring position, a passed ball to the backstop followed by a throwing error on the catcher allowed both runners to score and moved the lead to 11-1.

In the eighth, the Crimson Tide added three more to extend the lead to 14-1. Walker McCleney led things off with a walk before Avant and Connor Wright each followed with singles to load the bases. Three consecutive walks brought in the game's final three runs to close out the night's scoring.

Alabama and Arkansas-Pine Bluff return to the diamond on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. CT first pitch at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Fans can catch all the action on SEC Network+.
