http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/i...ns_new_contract_detai.html#incart_river_indexTotal pay: $8.2 million average including annual bonuses.
Expiration date: 2024 season.
And it comes with a $4 million signing bonus.
Include that lump payment and Saban's pay will be $11.150 million in 2017.
I don't really know how much money would incentivize Saban at this point. That said it is really hard to tell what will lead to Saban's retirement. He doesn't seem like someone who will ever lose his love for it. Part of me feels like the only way he retires is if somehow Bama falls off (doubt it), a health concern, or Miss Terry says its time. This contract looks to be one that really incentivizes him to stay at least another 5 years given the $3.6MM bonus after the 5th year. And if he wants to stay past that, he would likely have a new contract at that point to help with recruiting.
So, feel secure that you have Saban for at least 5 more years (assuming nothing unexpected pops up).
That's huge right there. I expect to see him getting extension in 2018 or 2019. Given what Georgia is doing, this is huge for us. Almost all contracts will end in 2019 or 2020. I'm willing to bet that we'll see new faces in 2019 or 2020.Good to see that Cochran's contract runs through 2020.
I'm pretty sure his 2017 salary will go up to 11.1 this year because he 4 million bonus which is a signing incentive.$8.2 Million per year average.....and STILL a bargain. If he wins 1-2 more NC's he should get $10 Million+ per year for sure....should probably already get that much.
Feel really good about CNS being here for at least 5 more seasons.
Oh yeah I understand that part. I mean ideally he deserves $10 Million+ on average every year. What's he's done here cannot be overstated. Not just for winning 4 Unanimous NC's and 5 SEC Titles in 10 years but how he has revived and revitalized our whole program and it's National image.I'm pretty sure his 2017 salary will go up to 11.1 this year because he 4 million bonus which is a signing incentive.
Yep, he`s just setting his family up in perpetuity now. When you consider how he`s invested his money no doubt..... Could well see a PBS or Nature special with the intro, " This program sponsored in part by the Nick and Terri Saban Foundation" . Wouldn`t surprise me in the least. He's already made a lot of money, at this point the University is just making sure the grands trust fund is plush. I'm not complaining though, I'd be doing the same in his position!
