Seems very odd to have been in the works but not done during bowl prep to give Stoops the send off...

Who knows, but I'm surprised more top coaches don't retire after 10 years or so. Think about making $5M+ per year for 10 years and it's basically like winning the lottery. I would guess Stoops total compensation over his 18 years in Oklahoma is close to $60M - if you take into account salary and all the other perks of being a head coach at a blue blood program. I mean, at that point why in the world would someone still want to coach? Plus, I bet he stays onboard at OU in some capacity for a good chunk of change..

I think you are right. Maybe not ND but certainly another coaching gig some where; although if I were to wager I think this is Brian Kelly's last year. Other possibilities after this year might be Florida, USCw, TAMU, Michigan and yes even Alabama or the NFL which seems more likely.

Forgot to mention I am ducking after this post.

I wonder if Jim McElwain's seat just got a bit hotter? Not saying Stoops would be interested but Florida would definitely be interested.

If his father died that young I hope B. Stoops doesn't have some health problem. Can't blame him for wanting to live life.

Of course things can change but from what I've read he isn't looking to get back into coaching. As long as he's been smart with his money he'll never have to work again - or his kids. Can't say I blame him for walking away..

Or maybe Stoops is serious and wants to take it easy.

His Dad collapsed on the field at close to the same age and died on the way hospital. He might be serious about enjoying his family and his wealth.

Bob isn't really retiring. Is he positioning himself to replace CNS in 2018 when he leaves Alabama to go coach the Jets. **Blue Font**

Can't say that I loved Big Game Bob but word on the radio is that he is a family guy wanting to spend more time at home. He apparently has twin boys playing DB and WR that will be seniors in high school. Here is to hoping it is not a health related issue.
