It was no secret at the time that Kiff preferred Bateman, because his offense, run the way he'd like to run it, is better with a QB with at least serviceable legs. When Bateman wouldn't or couldn't run, even with wide-open running lanes, end of story. Kiff then had to adapt his offense to Coker's skills...

Interesting, because I always thought that Coker was a more than adequate runner.
