Not at all.

It's just that two of the couples I know with the most active, most fulfilling sexual relationships are both made up of individuals who grew up in households like what you described - and didn't rebel against their upbringing.

Both have never been with anyone but their spouse, both have been married for at least eight years, both have multiple children, and both still have very active sexual relationships.

Neither has any inkling of emotional issues related to, repression of, nor stagnation in their sexual appetites - which seems to be what you and many others would imagine given their upbringing.

And, if you ask them, their sexual health and happiness is due to many factors - not the least of which is the fact that they have zero sexual baggage.
While your anecdote doesn't actually address the point I made, I'm very happy your friends have such satisfying relationships. I hope the same for everyone.

But if you shield kids from knowledge, they'll never have sex.

I'm pretty sure 90% of my generation learned how to have sex by watching porn, well before any sexual education classes are taught. Frankly, I cannot imagine the emotionally crippling early sexual experiences of a child raised in a highly sheltered, abstinence-only and porn-free household.
I will say this, one of the greatest regrets of my life thus far has been that I was exposed to porn. If there is one thing I wish I could go back and undo it would be ever seeing that stuff. The negative effects it has had on my life have far out-weighted anything positive. Frankly, I'm not sure there is anything redeeming or positive about it at all. Now with two kids, I hope and pray I can keep them sheltered from it even in the face of things like this magazine which are overwhelmingly easy to come in contact with. My parents were ignorant. I guess if there is one thing positive about it, it's that to the benefit of my sons, I am not.

That must have been quite a stash.

Since everyone is sharing stories (takes a puff on a doobie before he starts, ha ha)......

Back in 99, I was on a USAF base and one Sunday afternoon a call came in to the cop shop about a woman screaming in pain. When they noted the address, they realized that in the area (swidt?) was her husband patrolling maybe a mile away. Standard procedure would have sent him but realizing it was HIS address - they invented a call and sent him elsewhere across base (chow relief or something). They sent another cop (one of his buddies of course) to the house and his wife and another married man were engaged in the subject of the OP rather vigorously.

Needless to say, word got out. He worked in the hospital with me and was married to another hospital worker (a full blooded Native American from OK) and the adulteress worked in the dental clinic. They soon both left their partners and married each other, you know, we fit together like, oh never mind.

I noticed on Facebook the other night that after getting hitched in late 2000, they've been divorced since at least NLT 2012, if not earlier. And damned if he ain't married to a different Native American now.

It's this last (them being divorced) that I must confess totally shocks me the most about this tale (swidt).

Final irony? Dude was a big Penn State fan........
