    *** 4* DE/OLB Cameron Latu SIGNS with Bama ***

Mentioned in another thread Latu as a possible commit. His mom told BOL Saturday that she favors Alabama but will let him make the final decision.

I like our chances a lot with Latu. Very strong relationship with Tosh.

Bryant always recruited the mamas about as much as the sons. Having mama in your corner isn't a guarantee, but it's a huge edge.

I may making a wrong assumption, but if he is a Mormon, will he need to take a year off for mission work?

Required "off" could be "on" ('Bama's roster) easily enough - he could do a two-year US Highway 82 mission to Reform...

I know McKee (QB) is taking his two year mission right after high school but don't recall seeing anything on Latu. Where did you read that?

Latu said yesterday he'll announce Friday. Alabama appears to be in good shape here.

Pretty light ( at least right now ) for a DE. Does anyone know if he`s being recruited for a specific position? One of the LB slots?

I don't know for sure but think he is a Jack/Sam prospect.

He's announcing today, and Bama looks to be the pick. We'll see. Things can change.
