From Myrtle Beach FUMC UMC Women, 1977


1 large cabbage
1 large onion
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp celery seed
3/4 salad oil


Thin slice or chop cabbage and onion
Boil vinegar, sugar, salt, and celery seed for 2 minutes
Remove from heat, add salad oil
Boil again, then immediately pour over cabbage and onion
Cover tightly, let cool then refrigerate overnight.

Good vinegary marinated slaw, I would maybe add some chopped carrot for color, and a bit more celery seed
