Yep, it's certainly reassuring to know that the US gun homicide rate looks somewhat favorable when compared to countries run by drug cartels and warlords in Africa, Central America, and South America.

I would think that the gun homicide rate in the U.S. is at its highest rate where drugs and gangs are at their most abundant. I guess that it is fair to compare Chicago to Africa, Central America, and South America and their murder rates where drug cartels and warlords are at those regions' highest.

If you look at AL.com on the front page, it is sad to see all of the murder victims in the major Alabama municipalities in each story. There seems to be a new story (or 2 or 3 or more) each day and the reporting does not go in depth about the legality of the ownership of the firearm involved.
Interestingly, if you look on AL.com presently, you will find more stories of people killed in vehicle related accidents than by firearms around the state.

It would be extremely interesting to have this kind of granular information on gun distribution, usage, and violence. If we did, we could answer this question and many others. Unfortunately, accurate and comprehensive information about gun violence in America no longer exists because the NRA successfully lobbied Congress to strip the CDC of funding for the study of firearm use and misuse over two decades ago.

For the record, I am doing more than my part to get that "guns/100 inhabitants" number above 112.6/100 inhabitants. Way above par in this household.

Something is fishy about this story. The Iraqi opens fire with a machine gun in a packed night club and two are killed and three are wounded?

Maybe this: Police said the incident was being treated as a 'possible relationship dispute' and not a terror attack.They said the killer had been a long time resident of Konstanz.
