Outside of the 2013 fluke year, Gus averages 5 losses a year. Truly is amazing.

Not football related, but al.com, Montgomery Advertiser, etc., are reporting they are "mutually" parting ways with the president that just arrived in 2017. SNASS.

Seems like it is partially sports related according to some journalists. The bad Malzahn contract and an icy relationship with Pearl due to how he handled the NCAA stuff. He also didn't have a good relationship with the faculty. All just rumor mill stuff of course but probably not far off considering the timing and his lack of a clear landing spot.

Alabama - gives money back to donor after absurd demands.

Auburn - “mutually” parts ways with President after he irritates boosters with his handling of basketball coach in regards to a FBI investigation.

It really blows my mind how UA and UA Athletics is some comic book big-bad corporate entity trope to these guys - and with Alabama's prominence they've laundered this narrative to the wider sports audience - but Auburn is the one with large-scale academic misconduct rings, consistent run-ins wit pay-to-play schemes, school accreditation issues, and a gang of 4 or 5 that make most of the high-level decisions with that operation.

Leath did a really good job of alienating both the athletic and academic factions on campus as you point out. Both my kids in school there said faculty were rather open in their criticism.

And his wife didn’t help matters when, in the course of the ongoing renovation of the President’s Mansion, she pushes through several hundred thousand dollars in change orders to the project without hesitation.

They just didn’t “step on toes”. They jumped up and down on the feet of the old guard.

Funny how that works. Since the days of Barfield (as least that I have first hand knowledge of) the unwritten rule in terms of the relationship academics to athletics was “to get along, you go along”. The gang of 4/5 as you put it is more like a “Star Chamber”.

Leath is gone because the “Chamber” wanted him gone and Leath had p.o.’d the academic side to the extent no one would stand in his corner (not that that would mattered).

Yet the narrative is this is “we still like each other but we just can’t live together”. 😂

Just curious -- what did he do to alienate faculty?
