Vandy does not have 10% of the talent that we do. If they beat us, then they have a lot better coaching staff than us.

Mason is a good defensive mind, and has a defense that can give us a headache. Their qb is a better than average qb, and if given time could really make us pay. Sometimes a great defensive performance can negate whatever talent advantage one team has.

With that said I firmly believe we will win, but I don't think it's going to be this "easy day trip to Nashville and back" thing like many seem to think. Vandy has historically played us hard even with the most Vandyest of teams. Ever since Franklin and Mason eras they have been better than the "woody ballers" that they used to be.

Vanderbilt's QB, Kyle S is not dual threat is he? I don't remember reading that he is. Colorado State's QB ran a few times where BAMA wasn't expecting it since he had not done it yet this year much. I imagine Vandy's QB will do the same at least a few times.
Not the way you mean. He can move around a little bit, but he's not Jalen or Lamar Jackson or anything. He has been very efficient so far. He can scramble sufficiently if you give him a lane. Tough to say too much about him given the defenses he has faced. He is one notch about Hurts in QBR rating. We will need a better pass rush than we had last Saturday. Their running game was very ineffective against KSU, so it was mostly on his shoulders.

Who is concerned? Frankly, all games concern me to varying degrees, so there is that. Not sure that you actually read and comprehended the original post. What did you find so egregious?

I dunno, the worst Bama ever beat Vandy under Woody was by 25 points. The two times Bama has played Vandy under Saban Alabama has beaten Vandy by 24 and 34 points.

Look, I know Vandy looks pretty good so far against paper this year (90th SOS), but look at recruiting:
Vandy:
2014: 49th, 0-5*, 3-4*, 11-3*
2015: 48th, 0-5*, 3-4*, 11-3*
2016: 59th, 0-5*, 1-4*, 10-3*
2017: 20th, 0-5*, 0-4*, 15-3*
Total: 0-5*, 7-4*, 47-3*

Alabama:
2014: 1st, 6-5*, 13-4*, 6-3*
2015: 2nd, 4-5*, 15-4*, 5-3*
2016: 1st, 5-5*, 10-4*, 9-3*
2017: 1st, 7-5*, 19-4*, 2-3*
Total: 22-5*, 57-4*, 22-3*

Unless Saban sucks, Bama doesn't lose.

1)Never said we had a chance to lose just that it could be harder than what most think.

2) the woody comment was to say Vandy has improved a lot from the 90's. They are actually competing instead of getting a fat check

3) we beat Bobby Johnson 24-10 in Nashville in 2007. 2011 was franklin's first year.

4) yeah but I bet we can compare Chattanooga's recruiting to ours as well. But we struggled with them last year.

5) . We are going to win

I think we will win by 10-15 points at a minimum. I do however believe we will be pushed until the 4th quarter. IMO everybody puts too much emphasis on our talent level being the difference in this game and all our games. Having superior talent is important, but this year's team, while talented, lacks experience, leadership and discipline so far. With the possible exception of Vanderbilt, Missouri and Kentucky every SEC team has enough talent to beat us if you are just basing winning and losing on talent differential. The key of course is we have CNS.

Just an FYI, only my first two sentences were directed at you, I just tagged the data on for all those who suddenly think Vandy is some sort of powerhouse football program after going 3-0 against air.

So true. And I don't care if it's by 30 or by one - I just want the W.

I think they'll be a tough opponent. They beat K-State. K-State is good.
We have Ole Miss the next week.
It's difficult for me to believe that we won't be looking ahead, if even just a very slight bit.
This is a HUGE game for Vandy. CBS, at home, they'll pack it out, at least in the seats we haven't bought :)
I'd predict a score of say 34-17.
I'm actually glad to see the Commodores having a good time with football. Nashville's my favorite city.
sip

It's not always about the stats between the teams. I addressed this in the other thread, but I'll repost this.

I'm not 100 percent sold on Vanderbilt.

They played against MTSU. The MTSU beat Syracuse 30-23, and then lost Minnsota 34-3. <- How do you call this a very good team that lost to Minnsota?
Then they played AAMU, which has been outscored 125-7 in the last 3 games. AAMU played UAB, Vandy and USA.

If you look at Kansas QB, Jesse Ertz's stats, you will notice that he has regressed in the last three game, going from throwing 4 TDs to throwing 2 Ints with no touchdowns in last two games.

Ralph Webb- Running game is terrible. Averaging 2.2 yards? For a team that's 3-0, they should be averaging more than 2.2 a yard. I honestly believe that Vandy is overrated team because of who they played in the last three games. I suspect game is over by halftime. Bama 48-10
Thank you for this. I was jaw dropped at the Kansas State love in preseason. I kept thinking "what in the world are they thinking? What do they know about Kansas State that I don't know? Someone even had them is the B12 title game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KSU ranks #9 in B12 recruiting. I was not really impressed that Vandy beat them because Vandy has better recruits. But now Vandy think they have beaten a really good team. I disagree.

K-State is good. Where does this stuff come from? K-State won TWO games last year. 2-10.

Florida State was better in every phase of the game than Vandy, and they are better coached. Alabama is going to be just as fired up to play this game as Vandy will be after the "poor" showing against CSU. Vandy's defense will try to keep it close, but barring turnovers, they have no chance. By the end of the 2nd quarter, Alabama will be in control. By the end of the 3rd quarter, Vandy will have stopped thumping its chest. By the end of the game, Vandy will be forced to reconsider exactly where it stands in the SEC East race, because Alabama will have made it clear that they are not quite what they thought they were.
