I think it's the lumber jack look that seems to be sweeping athletics and other facets. Instead of the clean cut face, everyone has massive beards (maybe Duck Dynasty contributed as well). I've got the big, burly man part down...I keep the face clean shaven though...just the face. ;)

Evan Gattis of the Astros would be considered this.
