It is pretty clear from the wording that he is asking to be forgiven for using escorts, something which is between him and his wife. The only thing that he should be apologizing to his fans for is the other cheating, which is about to bring that program to it knees.

You're spot on...but he also should apologize to all those fans of other schools whom he slandered in denying the cheating that was alleged. He also could try apologizing for playing the "Christian" card and further sullying that name. I'll forgive him...and I am sure God forgives him...but he has done irreparable harm to the cause of Christ.

No, he hasn't.

IMO this isn't so much an issue weighing on his heart but more of a strategy ,aplan to pave the way back into coaching. Damage control, it's about the Benjamins

Yes he has...he played the Christian card time and again only to show that he was a fraud. There will be plenty of young people who will hear of this and say it's all a fraud. Or worse, like Jim Bakker, he will hit the circuit preaching...write a book and make millions...my prayer is that he goes home and minds his own business. We've heard enough from him for one lifetime.

I hope this is genuine and he’s been able to salvage/reconcile relationships which have been hurt by his infidelity. As far as forgiveness is concerned it’s not mine to grant as he’s never offended me in any capacity. I do hope he’s granted it by those who he’s hurt. It seemed there for a while to be a serial problem. Sexual promiscuity can be an addiction like anything else. Ask Tiger Woods. I hope he’s gotten the help he needs.

I'm wearing my "prepared to be burned at the stake" clothes.

Here's my problem with what Freeze has done here....he has focused on precisely the WRONG thing. He is apologizing for what - quite frankly - was really only the business of him and his wife/family.....while evading the larger responsibility of what got the ball rolling on this in the first place.

In short, his confession is being used to conceal, and he's using the old trick of confessing to SOME in the attempt to mislead everyone that he has confessed to ALL. Now his supporters will fall back on, "But he confessed, he apologized." The fact he didn't get to the REAL heart of the issue will be clouded over.

MLB players did this with steroids, every damned one of them. Did you ever notice that every single player ever caught doing steroids if he confessed at all ONLY confessed to what there was actual evidence of? They lied and lied and lied and then when caught, they admitted ONLY to what we knew. Two guys were exceptions: Ken Caminiti, who told his story to SI, and Jose Canseco, who sold his for millions. A Rod lied and lied and lied and even when he told the truth, he only admitted to something there was actual evidence proving.

I have no reason to believe A Rod was telling the truth given the long history there.

Freeze has chosen to focus on the personal and salacious and juicy headline grabbing story, but what did he know and when did he know it regarding violations at Ole Miss? Even if we accept the probably ridiculous notion that Freeze didn't know until late in the game, where's his confession regarding how he mishandled stuff?

Where is his public apology to Houston Nutt, for suggesting the bulk of violations were under the previous regime?

As much as I'd like to say this represents some repentant change, it seems to me that without some revelation that may be painful as to what a cheater the school was, Freeze is still hiding behind the posture of religion.
