Once something is on Twitter like that it goes viral so no reason not to discuss, which is what we do here. ;) FWIW, the thread on the football board isn't gloom and doom.
A lot of that is because there are a lot of sources right now that are basically saying that there isn’t that much that the ncaa can do about it. When it came out around 1 pm up until 4pm there really wasn’t much indicating that. So the possibility of mass hysteria was higher then. Now I think many have heard the news and some logical takes on it so it’s not as pressing as it was a 1pm yesterday.

And without more information from Blazer, there's nothing the public can do at the moment. If he elaborated on things during his testimony, the hysteria probably would have come.

That's kind of what Dan Wetzel was meaning with his comments this morning on JOX.

Yea I saw several Twitter sources yesterday stating that he was very descriptive against Alabama but it turned out to be PSU. But it’s one of those bombshells that many didn’t have the full story until a few hours later.

I wonder if Blazer knew there's a 5 year statue of limitations and intentionally cut it off at 2014?
Most likely, but a bag man and a middle man telling on his past acquaintances is not something that is good even if there is no harm in it. This whole thing is more or less about the NCAA trying to reassert power through the FBI after Pitino and Louisville got away from the NCAA investigation.

Personally, I would like to see the NCAA burn..........and I wouldn't waste my urine on it.

Re: FBI Probe of College Basketball (Breaking - Wade Suspended)

Not happy to see this ... very weird list though. Outside of UNC, ND, and Bama, only visual connection is the Big 10 schools ... and then of course the whole Nike school thing ... Hoping nothing comes from it.
The fact that this timeline puts it well in the past aside, I don't see anything to be nervous about anyway.

There are multiple coaches caught up in this. The NCAA will eventually assert themselves here, but that puts programs that employed or still employ (looking at you LSU) coaches implicated directly in this in the crosshairs.

The NCAA simply can't run around chasing every program that's been name dropped in all of this, I mean what is the total up to at this point? What I do expect though is that eventually they're going to make an example of the programs that had coaches directly involved, and honestly that's probably how it should have been done all along. This crucify a program because someone not associated with the program paid someone other than the player nonsense was absurd.

Nervous about this particular incident? No, but it does show a part of a money trail that they can expose if Alabama doesn't stay in their good graces. So there is plenty of stuff not to be really happy about.

Again this whole probe is basically the NCAA's revenge against Pitino through legal means since they were incapable of slamming him for the escort service incident. The NCAA is actually weaker than they were before the P5. The NCAA is well aware of the pay for play environment of college athletics, they usually turn a blind eye to most of it. The exceptions are when they are obvious. Ole Miss wasn't penalized for paying players, they were penalized for making it obvious, and making the NCAA look like idiots.

This FBI probe is just another reason I wish there was some sorta cap system in college sports, and they would just give up the façade of this being a purely amateur sport that players aren't paid. The FBI probe has just set a scary precedent for how much the NCAA is willing to go to try to gain back lost power.

Can't buy that. The investigation started well before the escort service story broke. Plus, there are too many people involved if it's just about Pitino, who was not even indicted.

Pitino's escort scandal was investigated in 2015, this FBI and SEC found Marty Blazer in 2016. Even if you say that its too close together, Pitino has been very dirty before then to the point the NCAA was constantly trying to hit Louisville hard with something, and its kinda convenient that his firing only ramped up after they found that he was a part of the probe. Louisville has been hit way worse with this than any other team. Yes Wade from LSU was hit, but that is his dumb fault with his big mouth.
