The article states his wife said he was diagnosed with a chemical imbalance and offered antidepressants. It also states he held a PPL (private pilot license). Many with a PPL will absolutely refuse antidepressants because in many cases that puts the PPL on thin ice. Not saying that's what happened here, but the FAA's stance on this matter is maddening. We may never know if it contributed directly to this tragedy. It has and will continue to contribute to others.I think both of these were at play, but there had to be some mental illness involved as well.
