Zero penalties for unc? The ncaa must have thought it was a bama game

At least some people in NC understand that UNC's reasoning is a shot at their own academical standards...as well as an admission that we did wrong but you cannot punish us. UNC has NO ETHICAL STANDARDS AT ALL. That they skated on this makes the NCAA a defunct institution.

And sadly, despite supposedly being such a great "academic" university, I suspect 90% of their alums are FINE AND DANDY with their coaches AND Administration outright Cheating to win more BB games and more Titles.

This will again be proof that these college academic rankings (such as US News) are bogus. UNC will be ranked same as before.

This does not surprise me at all. The fact that UNC didn't get even a wrist slap is yet another sign the the NCAA has outlived its usefulness. It is plain and simple, basketball pays the NCAA's bills, without it they don't exist. Ipso facto UNC skates= sacred cow. UNC cheated so they will throw the book at Ole Sis, a football school, so they can tell themselves they are still relevant.

Coach Bryant had it right over 40 years ago when he wanted to form a power conference league and let the NCAA do what they do best, run the small schools.

Well yknow March madness is coming up the nc2a knows who their cash cows are. I think I remember them saying they didn't do academics and I believe it was The barn in 2010 that was involved.

As I have been stating for nearly 25 years, the power 5 need to pull out of the ncaa and do their own thing and quit supporting corrupt athletic socialism. (I do realize it is another power 5 school we are talking about but the fact remains that the pointy heads from the lesser schools typically have made really terrible precedents. Remarkably In this case it was the SEC commish and crew.)

Yup. Agree completely.

And No surprise that Cash-Cow UNC skated, really. Had this been some mid-major, that poor school would have been hammered to "Hades" and back.

But this treatment of "Favored" programs in nothing new - The NZAA tried their best to look the other way at USC Football, Michigan Basketball back around '03 or so, and Notre Damned Football a few years before that - the only reason ANY of them were ever penalized was because the media grabbed a-hold of the stories and wouldn't let go. They NEVER want to hold "Favored" programs up to the rules!

I wonder what UGa BB fans are thinking? If you recall, they were DECIMATED - their program was reduced to Rubble - all because Harrick and his Son ran just a couple fake classes for BB players.

UNC had an entire Fake Curriculum. (Much like aubarn has run for decades now......)

This whole ridiculous business of "regular students can take the fake courses too" is nothing more than the "Excuse du Jour" of the NZAA these days - their "blueprint" of how to CHEAT and not face penalties. Just "STRUCTURE" your cheating in an acceptable format, and CHEAT to your heart's content. No Penalties will be levied (So long as you are "Politically" well positioned with the NZAA).

Want to run FAKE CLASSES? Simple! - just publish them in the general catalog and make sure a few "regular" students sign up each semester, along with the hoard of scholarship athletes you are funneling into the deadhead, no-work-for-grades "classes".

Want to lavish athletes with (otherwise) improper benefits in the form of 5-Star Resort quality accommodations and meals worthy of a Michelin 5-star restaurant? Simple! - just build the "dorm" big enough that 5-6 "regular" students can also live there.

Want to pay Six-Figure "Signing bonuses"? Simple! - just deal with a parent, "uncle" (wink, wink), or pastor, and everyone pretend the athlete doesn't have any clue why he HAS to sign at aubarn....

And these clowns in the media want to complain that Alabama has a few more "Analysts" that other schools?????

What do those that want to the NCAA gone suggest be formed instead? An association that is run by the Power 5 and deals with the Power 5 schools?

But the enforcement isn't going to change. It's still going to be the NCAA. I'm all for separating G5 and P5. Getting rid of the NCAA and to create something else isn't going to work, though.

Would be replacing the NCAA with the NCAA.

Without the G5, the rules would change a lot. P5 schools would allow a lot of things that are not permitted in the name of socialized football. Strip out the G5 and re-write the rule book from scratch.

But even then I would not want this new organization involved in academic or legal issues.
