Saban hasn’t won the AP Coach of the year since 2008. He should win that honor EVERY year. Everyone in the country knows who does the best job year in and year out.

John Wooden was named NCAA College Basketball's Coach of the Year in 1964, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973.

Coach Bryant was National Coach of the Year in 1961,1971, and 1973.

Our coach deserves to be recognized.

I have heard so many say they give it to someone who does beyond expectations, and they expect Nick to win, but it is called COACH of the year not highest rising coach of the year or most unexpected winner of the year. How can the National Title winning coach not get it every year? He coached his team to the top, guess that would be to easy.

If they keep beating everybody by 5 touchdowns the rest of the season then I have a feeling he could get coach of the year again.

I agree that he should have more Coach of the Year awards. The excuse some use is that he has the best talent to work with, but he is the one responsible for recruiting and signing that talent. SMH

Also, there was a stat shown last night that Alabama has been ranked #1 for 66 weeks (now 67) since 2008. No other team was even close.

Coach of the year is always given to someone that has a better season than expected. Everyone expects Alabama to have a great year and Saban delivers. Every. Year.

Don’t think CNS has a shot at Coach of the Year. If ND wins 11 games, coming off last year’s debacle, Brian Kelly is a lock. However, for the Broyles Award, I’d say Daboll and Pruitt (the latter nominated last year) both have legitimate claims...

Saban wants team trophies, not individual awards.
I think he's rejected that false dichotomy explicitly (though I don't have a clip or quote to prove it). His philosophy seems to be that if the team is performing such that individuals are getting recognition, as long as that doesn't negatively affect individual or team performance it's good for the program that they get it...

Starting with Florida, you have to get all the way to OU (7 teams) before their aggregate total exceeds Alabama's total. And if you start from the bottom, it takes everyone but Florida...

By the fact that the coach who rises above expectations usually gets it, I hope Nick never wins it again.. They expect him to be in title hunt and hope he always is. BUT at some point they will have coach of the decade, he is a shoe in for that. NO coach living, dead, coaching, or retired can match his 10 years from 2008-2017, even if he does not win a title this year. Worst case if we lose 2 and make playoff his record is tops. BUT if we win title 5 under Nick, that is 50% for 10 yr span, he has done in 10yrs, what only one will have done ever, Bear Bryant.Took Bryant more than 10 yrs to win his six, never won 5 in 10 yrs. Bryants were more spread out, also if he wins 5th at Bama ties him with Bryant at 6 total,( 1 at lsu, 5 at bama). What are the odds the top 2 national title winning coaches won most or all at the same school. We truly are blessed. Maybe time for Notre Dame to admit it, GOD IS A BAMA FAN:biggrin2:

As long as we are #1 after NC game, I will be happy. If not I will stil be happy, just not AS happy hehe. At this point every win is just gravy to me. After the down years, at this point any win we get is a gift. I have seen the best years of college football period. This team has done what no other has, and probably will not do until after I am dead and gone. I have seen what many generations have not, and never did see. TO all the bama fans who are no longer here a big CHEERS, I truly wished you could have been here to enjoy this ride. I can think of so many I knew personally, I really wished they could have lived long enough t enjoy this wonderful time. ROLL TIDE POPS miss ya.

Coach Saban is the best of his era.

Alabama is 34-1 in its last 35 games. That's 97%! And it was within seconds of winning that 1.
