This will be a kinda crazy question, but I am in charge this year of getting the turkey for Thanksgiving. I am buying from a local farmer, who pasture raises them. He processes them the same day as pick up and I am needing to pick a date for pickup.
I was hoping to go this Friday so I’d be able to get a larger bird. My question is will the turkey keep in the fridge till Wednesday/Thursday of the following week? He said it would since they are freshly processed and he’s been doing this for 30 plus years, but I don’t want to waste my money if it turns bad before then without freezing.
Or would it be best to wait till Monday, so I won’t have to worry about the bird keeping? Then I may not get as large a bird.
I know some of you on here have probably experienced freshly processed meats, so I figured you’d be able to help.
