Anything that helps business' make money is a positive. Most companies that are floundering don't do much hiring or expanding.

TIDE-HSV--LOL! Which "people" are you talking about keeping more of their "hard-earned" money. I bow to your expertise on the present bill. You must be referring to the estate tax...

Does it really matter? No one is entitled to what others have rightfully earned. You guys do realize that the high earners pay most of the taxes in this country. If you don't pay much in taxes, you shouldn't expect much of a tax cut.

Lots of businesses made lots of money peddling bad home loans. Didn't work out to too much of a positive overall though.

I know you're smarter than to think some companies simply "peddled bad home loans". The federal government of course had a hand in creating the necessary incentives/environment.

Actually it wasn't a lot of businesses. It was just a few and if the government had not bailed out the bad actors the street would have learned a valuable lesson.

And Tide1986 is correct, the lib's gave the CRA teeth and made the banks start making bad loans. Another emotional feel good policy with awfully severe unintended consequences.

As has been discussed previously, sometimes it makes sense for a company to invest in its own stock, particularly when said stock is undervalued. If anyone thinks all companies will invest in stock buybacks, he might need to go to school and educate himself.

Regarding dividends, I bet there'll be millions of retirees who will appreciate the "pay raise".
Probably not, when the next target is well-known to be their Social Security and Medicare. Dividends paid out are a pittance compared to those programs...

Well according to Chuck Grassley, if you're not going to benefit from the estate tax repeal, it's because you're blowing all your money on beer and prostitutes. LINK

Chuck Grassley said:
I think not having the estate tax recognizes the people that are investing, as opposed to those that are just spending every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women or movies.
As an unrelated note, Grassley's estate is worth enough to trigger an estate tax return.

The GOP's war on education and rural America continues.

GOP higher ed plan would end student loan forgiveness in repayment program, overhaul federal financial aid

House Republicans on Friday proposed a sweeping overhaul of a federal law that governs almost every aspect of higher education, a plan that would eliminate some popular student aid programs and impose restrictions on others...

House Republicans are also envisioning the end of loan forgiveness for college graduates who pursue careers in the public sector. The plan, much like the White House budget, would do away with Public Service Loan Forgiveness, a program that wipes away federal student debt for people in the public sector after they have made 10 years’ worth of payments. The program, enacted in 2007 under President George W. Bush, was designed to encourage college graduates to pursue careers as social workers, teachers, public defenders or doctors in rural areas...

The legislation would also end the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, a $732 million program that provided aid to 1.6 million students in the 2014-15 academic year. It would also wind down the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant, a federal program that provides money to students willing to work in high-needs schools or teach subjects in desperate need of educators for four years.

Praise be all ye libs.

Whether ye be libertarian (lib), fiscal conservative (lib), independent (lib), any variety of non-Trump supporter (lib), a Christian with a functioning moral compass (lib), someone that doesn't want to vote for child molesters (lib) or just use some common sense in your life (lib).

Common sense and liberalism don't belong in the same sentence.

But on a brighter note, here's 4 Pinocchio's for you boys....https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...orking-class-families/?utm_term=.25dde0953886
