I'm a lifelong Nola metro resident (other than my 4 years at LSU) and I love our city. I know several other Nola area posters are on this board, plus Bama is no stranger here; however, if you have any questions about what to do, where to stay, opinions on specific places, etc. - send them to me. I'll get back with you as soon as I can. Since we have so many conventions, I've given out many recommendations over the years and I enjoy doing it.

I can't help with tickets!! Trust me, if I could, my son would be first in line. He is in the student lottery.

Good luck with the game, should be a good one!

How we spose to make sure Clemson is the only team who has too many of their players in the casino the night before the game?

i'll steer this back in the right direction:

What's the best place to get something to eat... and is there any place we can go sight seeing before or after the game?

Is it better to take a bus from Biloxi or find a parking space. And are there places outside the Quarter that you would reccomend or is Bourbon Street and Jackson Square the only great places to have a good time.

So I take it you are not spending the night? There is a good amount of downtown parking. I recommend downloading the premier parking app. They have lots all over downtown and clearly marked as theirs. We went to the Saints game recently and were able to park in one of their lots and it’s super convenient to pay by app. I think there will be less drivers for this game than a typical saints game.

The dome is on Poydras Street in what’s referred to as the central business district or CBD. Poydras runs parallel to Canal St (southern border of the quarter) and both head to the river. There are lots of bars along Poydras and the side streets. Drew Brees owns a piece of Walk Ons which is a sports bar restaurant. Fulton Street which is near Harrah’s has some cool, places. Lucy’s is a favorite hangout of locals. Manning’s is in that area and yes, it’s owned by those famous ole miss and Tennessee alums.

I do enjoy walking thru the quarter but it’s not for everyone and can really be hectic on big event nights.

I live here in New Orleans too, and I'm assuming this is not a game day question. I highly recommend a visit to the World War II Museum. It's a pretty cool place. It's hard to go wrong on food in New Orleans. There's lot of good places. Do you favor a particular cuisine? Krymsonman

I'm not from New Orleans, but we visit reasonably often.

Personally, I set foot on Bourbon Street only to cross it on my way somewhere else. Much prefer other places in the Quarter.

Over the past few years, Mrs. Basket Case and I have discovered the Magazine Street area. Tons of decent places to eat and drink, and some really cool local shops. Our favorite dive is Parasols bar, which has a lot of the feel of Egan's in Tuscaloosa, except they don't allow smoking and have some awesome poor boys and onion straws.

If all you see in New Orleans is Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and the Super Dome, you've missed out on a lot.

Amen on the WWII Museum. Be sure to allocate some good time there. To do it justice, you need at least 3-4 hours. If you like military history, and get into the details, you could easily lose track of time for a solid day.

There's also a movie theater and a restaurant in the complex. A movie runs on an almost continuous loop, and has a really interesting 3-D simulation, but without glasses.

The restaurant has the feel of a USO place right out of a 1940s movie set. You won't confuse it with Brennan's or Commander's Palace or Emeril's. But the food is way better than you normally see in a museum, and it's almost worth a trip just for that.

Basket Case has it right. And if you need a special cocktail after the museum, go right around the corner to The Rusty Nail. It's known as a gathering place for local BAMA fans.

My folks are taking me there on Gameday. We've got reservations for 1:30 pm. My dad says it's the best place he's ever eaten. He told me to be sure to bring a coat jacket and I'm thinking 'but it's Gameday' LOL
Commander's is well worth the trip and they usually require a jacket. A tie is optional and they sometimes relax the jacket thing depending on what's going on in town. Great restaurant. If you like bread pudding, get it for dessert. Hope you get the Garden Room. That's my favorite room.
