Do you consider Jackie Bouvier to have been a golddigger?

This is from her Wikipedia article. I have no idea how fluent she is in those or if she can only speak or can she read and write in them.
no, her Dad according to Wikipedia (I had to look it up) was a wall street exec so Jackie was a wealthy, attractive New York Socialite who could have been with anyone. Kennedy hadn't had his first election bought for him by the time they were married. I really know next to nothing about her or his early years but considering the times I wonder if marrying an Irishman in JFK was considered slumming? Even a wealthy one? I dont know at all but on its face it doesn't appear to be a gold digger type dal

And to answer Selma I wouldn't be surprised at all if he said that but don't recall it specifically. He has said horrible things about many women publicly over the decades and certainly has always treated them as property rather than people so it wouldn't shock me at all

any number of gold diggers. Which is exactly what our first lady is and by the way I love the dislikes on this from those who tells us to not be so PC. Looking forward to more
It depends on what you mean by political correctness. I have no problem with someone thinking you are a jerk. I have a problem with someone sleuthing your identity and trying to get you fired (or something akin) for being a jerk.

i have no idea of her smarts, etc. but that is a pretty common trait for folks in eastern europe/ex-russia areas.

i would guess $ an fame were the motivation.
common all over the world

The doorman at the building in Singapore where some of my family lived in the 90's spoke 2 dialects of Chinese, English, Malay, Indonesian and Tagalog fluently but he was "somewhat embarrassed" when and Indian family moved into the building and he wasn't quite fluent in Indian. He had the equivalent of an 8th grade education but grew up in the HDB's of Singapore was immersed in all of these languages

I work with a large number of people from all over Europe and Asia and I'm always a little embarrassed about my lack of foreign language skills and lack of knowledge regarding the history of their countries while they all speak English (excellent for Europeans; not so much for most of the Chinese). The one language they truly struggle with is my Southern talk or accent.

Wow why can we not have a thread stay on coarse. It is always just a few that pretty much destroy a topic with their political venue. I was interested in this thread but here comes the hate trump crowd. If this is what non-sports has become well yall can have it. I didn't like Obama at all but I didn't continue to take over threads with my hate. I love to debate topics but that should be in an established thread. Well Roll Tide anyway.

You can always post on the topic to talk about what you want. Who knows... maybe it'll spur discussion a different direction. People used to dump all over Obama everywhere(I participated a bit as well) - and Hillary still gets thrown out randomly but I don't remember all the complaining about it like with Trump. It may have happened but I don't remember it nearly as much.

I do actively try to avoid bringing it up in threads that aren't directly about him since so many people have gotten safe-spacey about it although there are times when something is so hypocritical that people feel almost forced to call it out. I'd rather avoid the topic on other threads than have the complainers get Non-Sports split apart into different areas and essentially stifle the discussion.

Threads on Non-Sports have always drifted from topic to topic, it is nothing new. People taking their ball and going home every time one drifts somewhere they don't like isn't the answer either. Retreating to echo chambers isn't going to make things better anywhere. My opinions have shifted a lot over the years particularly because I'm willing to listen to different sides' opinions. If I don't want to participate in a thread that veered off into politics then I can start another thread or attempt to get it back on track with a post on the original topic and see if people want to discuss it.

What do you call someone who speaks two languages? Bilingual. Three? Trilingual. One? An American.

You can brush up on your Norwegian when Trump welcomes the expected flood of refugees from there.

I have Norwegian friends. They're not about to flood into Trump's US, even if there were enough of them. The cartoon of Trump being shushed by King came from a Norwegian...

Well, I guess I'm the one to speak to this. We don't and we never have had a thread drift rule in Tidefans. Sometimes, we will group topics into one thread, as in the "Trumpism" thread. This is to keep there from being a dozen Trump threads all over the front page. Within threads, normally anything goes, so long as to doesn't descend into sparring, etc. It's even OK for you to disagree about the rule... :D

personally I don't see any drift. This thread is about women choosing to latch onto to Men for financial support reasons only and there is no better current version of that than our own First Lady. Sad, of course but also completely true.

anything that can remotely be seen as questioning the omniawesomeness of dear leader is suspect.

I suspect they would have eventually split if he hadn't run for president. I still wouldn't bet much money they will stay together until he dies.

The thread was started with regard to students (male and female) as sugar babies so maybe a little drift. Sugar babies at Ole Miss...yada yada yada...Trump.

ETA: Now I am guilty of a thread drift about thread drifting.
