    Re: Keith Jackson Passes Away

It was the 85 Iron Bowl when I first started recognizing the voice. Can still remember the exactly what he said as that kick was about to go through the uprights:

“He missed a 52 yarder wide left with the wind. This is a 52 yarder into the breeze. Not strong, but there’s some. The kick is up (Broyles comments “It’s long enough.) It’s long enough and it’s GOOOOD! He Made It!”

God bless this man’s larynx. RIP, Keith Jackson.

My apologies for starting the other thread, didn't see this one.

Very sad news, but he lived a full life and brought joy to many people.

Thanks for the memories. RIP. His greatest gift was knowing when to talk and when to be quiet. Wish some of the current crop would learn to just hush sometimes. You don't get paid by the word.....

Such a sad day. Keith is a big part of my youth. listing and watching college football back when most games were only on the radio he brought a vivid picture of what was happening on the field. I so have missed his broadcasts of college football. God bless his family and friends.

Alabama is 2- and 3-deep all over the place with full grown, meaner-than-he!! men. It's almost not fair making college kids play against them. Any Saban-coached team is going to be deep as he!! with recruits that have elite size, strength and experience at their position and they are going to play with incredible physicality.

So sad to hear this. He was the best ever in college football! 2nd place ain’t even close! I have been missing him for many years now. It is like Bum Phillips said about Earl Campbell one time...he’s the best in his class and it don’t take long to call roll! RIP!

There will never be another like Keith Jackson. For those who are not able to close their eyes and think back to college football telecast and just naturally hear his voice, you'll never understand what you missed. I can always hear KJ and Frank Broyles calling a game in my mind.

    Re: Keith Jackson Passes Away

He was such a big part of why my initial curiosity and fascination with college football - which I had never even heard of up here in my childhood - evolved into a love and passion for Alabama football.

My buddy and I would regularly, randomly quote some of his gems, out of pure respect and admiration...

"He stuck his head into that Alabama line, and a tree fell on him..."

    RIP Keith Jackson.

You brought me way more than I can even say...
"I have never understood why it is 'greed' to want to keep the money you have earned but not greed to want to take the money someone else has earned.

I'll always remember his call of the 1993 Sugar Bowl. And not just the big plays either- my favorite part of the game is where he says "and they're starting to dance in Opp and Cullman and Eastaboga".

RIP Mr. Jackson. Say hello to Coach Bryant for us.
