After reading about our DB coach hire, anyone else slightly worried about him?
I know a lot of coaches, but I have no idea how to determine who is a good young coaching hire. Saban has a track record that makes me assume the best in these situations.

Read where he had the number one defense, when he was the defensive coordinator at Southeastern Louisiana. Obviously it wasn’t D1 but that’s not too shabby.

Also he was playing with a freshman secondary at Texas Tech. Pretty sure they weren’t the same talent we get. JMO

Saban will be grooming him with the DBs group. He was brought in to 'croot the mess out of the Louisiana+Houston area.

He has a two year show cause, but is currently coaching somewhere (UTSA?), so maybe there's an avenue.

I doubt it happens, just saying I'd like to see him back - he's an excellent coach.
The way we need recruiters, I don't see us using up an onfield spot, which can recruit, with someone who can't...

I like the youth movement as long as they have fresh ideas. Like others have said, he should stick around awhile too.

I would be happy with executing Saban's ideas

Read a Q&A with a Texas Tech 247 reporter this morning. While Tech did not have the best pass defense in the nation, they did have one thing - turnovers. The defense ranked 6th in the nation in turnovers gained by having 15 fumble recoveries and 14 INTs.

Another thing is the personnel. Scott had 8 of the 10 players on the two-deep for the secondary from the 2017 recruiting class. According to the reporter, the starting five DBs were two redshirt freshmen, a sophomore, a redshirt sophomore, and a JUCO player, and four of those five were recruited by Scott.

One big note is his preferred DB size. He likes tall, long-framed, physical DBs. Just like Nick Saban.
