DAG Rosenstein says he briefed Pres. Trump on the indictments earlier this week. “The President is fully aware of these actions today.”

So Trump knew about these FACTS already when:

he called the investigation a "Rigged Witch Hunt" (original capitalization) again in at least 4 different tweets.

he accused Germany of being "captive" to Russia.

he said that his upcoming meeting with Putin will be "the easiest" of his Europe trip.

he said that he will ask Putin the question "that the press loves so much" again, whether Russia did meddle in the election.

he said that Putin is not his enemy.
Any President worth anything would have cancelled a summit & likely called for sanctions in the face of this information. But Trump can’t do that to his boss.

If you still think he’s not completely compromised I honestly think you would be a better informed citizen if you had a lobotomy.

in addition to being completely compromised, he thinks his supporters aren't very bright and will buy the b.s. that he is peddling just like every other time.

I believe that he has said that he will ask him ... Did the Russians meddle in our elections? Today it appears more and more likely that he will be asking Putin... What is our plan now?

We surely know how much respect a KGB officer has for an operative that they are running! He will be flattering to Trump however, until he (Trump) is no longer useful.

”The stories you hear about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration, not the Trump Administration," the president tweeted. "Why didn't they do something about it, especially when it was reported that President Obama was informed by the FBI in September, before the Election?"
“This whole Russian thing didn’t happen and it’s fake news but it’s also Obama’s fault that the thing that didn’t happen happened.”

Stupid squared.

Great article from Wired on where we are now and where it may all go

https://www.wired.com/story/what-robert-mueller-knowsand-9-areas-hell-pursue-next/
Thanks, Jon.

I only read about half and then skimmed the rest due to time constraints but will re-visit later.

I found this part most interesting:

What lies in between those four corners is presumably what Mueller and Rosenstein know—and we can expect that the next round of indictments to begin to connect those dots, particularly in regard to the role of Americans who participated, wittingly or unwittingly, in the attacks. Rosenstein has been careful to point out that neither the the indictments aimed at the GRU—Russian’s main intellegence arm—nor the IRA allege the involvement of Americans, yet those words seem carefully chosen to stave off President Trump’s immediate outrage while preserving the possibility that future indictments will very much target Americans.
Spoiler alert: Nearly all of these open avenues involve not only Americans, but sometimes even senior campaign, transition, and White House aides to Donald Trump.

While it’s entirely possible that some investigative avenues for Mueller’s team won’t pan out into criminal charges, we do know that he and the FBI have had sustained, sometimes even years-long interest in the following lines of inquiry—none of which have yet appeared publicly in court:
(the article continues with "nine distinct areas of open questions")

I am on record saying if anyone broke the law they should be brought to justice and I don't care who it is from dog catcher to POTHUS.

We'll see what happens.....

And if they successfully fire the investigators and impact the course of the investigations where would you stand then? Just curious on that hypothetical because it may not be long before it isn't hypothetical anymore as the House Republicans are already working hard to undermine Rosenstein so that there will justification for his termination by Trump.

I didn't know about this but would be interested in reading up on it, Matt. If you have any articles that go into some detail, I'm happy to peruse. Thanks!

Sources told the publication that conservatives have been preparing to have Rosenstein impeached for weeks over allegations that he’s held up their investigation into FBI agents who some lawmakers say are biased against President Trump.

House Freedom Caucus leaders Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) are leading the effort, and the impeachment document could be filed as soon as Monday, according to Politico.
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/378976-trump-mueller-probe-should-never-have-been-started

President Trump asserted on Saturday that special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia should never have been opened in the first place.

"The Mueller probe should never have been started in that there was no collusion and there was no crime," Trump wrote on Twitter.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/10/us/politics/trump-sought-to-fire-mueller-in-december.html

In early December, President Trump, furious over news reports about a new round of subpoenas from the office of the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, told advisers in no uncertain terms that Mr. Mueller’s investigation had to be shut down.

The president’s anger was fueled by reports that the subpoenas were for obtaining information about his business dealings with Deutsche Bank, according to interviews with eight White House officials, people close to the president and others familiar with the episode. To Mr. Trump, the subpoenas suggested that Mr. Mueller had expanded the investigation in a way that crossed the “red line” he had set last year in an interview with The New York Times.

In the hours that followed Mr. Trump’s initial anger over the Deutsche Bank reports, his lawyers and advisers worked quickly to learn about the subpoenas, and ultimately were told by Mr. Mueller’s office that the reports were not accurate, leading the president to back down.

Mr. Trump’s quick conclusion that the erroneous news reports warranted firing Mr. Mueller is also an insight into Mr. Trump’s state of mind about the special counsel. Despite assurances from leading Republicans like Speaker Paul D. Ryan that the president has not thought about firing Mr. Mueller, the December episode was the second time Mr. Trump is now known to have considered taking that step. The other instance was in June, when the White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn II, threatened to quit unless Mr. Trump stopped trying to get him to fire Mr. Mueller.
https://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/rosenstein-says-doj-will-not-be-extorted

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said that the Department of Justice “is not going to be extorted” and that he has no response to documents that “nobody has the courage to put their name on” in response to inquiries about the articles of impeachment the House Freedom Caucus is drafting to possibly bring against him.
http://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...lies-to-attack-rosenstein-on-tv-to-build-case

The White House is building a case to fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal that said allies are being told to attack Rosenstein on television.

The idea is to launch attacks on Rosenstein, the Justice Department official overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling, in a way that avoids making it appear that Trump is meddling in the probe.

One person who spoke to the president this week told The Wall Street Journal that Rosenstein’s ouster is “a matter of when, not if.”
https://nypost.com/2018/07/14/house-republicans-take-first-steps-to-impeach-rod-rosenstein/

House Republicans have drawn up impeachment documents against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein —and could file the papers as soon as Monday.

Conservative Reps. Mark Meadows (R-NC) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) are furious at what they see as Rosenstein’s foot-dragging as they probe alleged anti-Trump bias at the FBI — and unconvinced by the Friday indictments of 12 Russian intelligence officers for interference in the 2016 election.
