Not going to pretend Valpo will be anywhere close to a team to make a regional but, great opening weekend for the guys. Seems like they are having fun again.
I still think once we get into SEC play they will struggle but, still expect the effort to be 100% improved.

I was encouraged by the bullpen all weekend. I know Valpo's not going to be great offensively, but our guys out of the pen came in, threw strikes, got outs. Really our whole pitching staff did well with avoiding walks, only 4 walks giving compared to 20 strikeouts.
Hopefully, Walters and Gardner can figure out what caused their starts to go south, cause those two performances were really the only blemishes on the weekend, IMO.
Yea I wasn't impressed by our starters one bit (minus Finnerty) and if we don't get right we will get killed this year. But as I've said I'd rather lose under Coach Bo than Hitler any day of the week. Like y'all said the bullpen looked good and threw strikes and that's all you can ask out of them. I think Guffey might surprise some people this year.
I don't think I've EVER seen a staff hit as many batters as Valpo did over the weekend. They made things way too easy for us. Their staff had 23 walks AND 10 HBP!
Manning started out hot and then proceeded to go 1 for 9 with 9 LOB. He's one of those we have to get production out of.
But as Wylie said, I'm very glad to be 3-0 at this point.
