LOL, one of these things is not like the others!

And I love that 6 of the other 13 teams in the SEC owe their biggest margin of loss to Alabama...

Maybe we could do a supplement to this and determine biggest losses by SEC teams. That would make the spread go down a bit, but maybe Bama picks up one or two more beat downs...

Thing is, we actually beat Arkansas in CONSECUTIVE YEARS by 52-0 each year.....

Auburn 49 to Alabama
Florida 38 to Alabama
Georgia 32 to LSU
we beat UGA by 28 and we'd have that record, too, if Chubb hadn't made that one play

Kentucky 51 to USCe
LSU 34 to Auburn
Ole Miss 63 to Alabama
Miss State 48 to Alabama
Missouri 37 to Auburn
And we beat Mizzou by 32 in a rainstorm....

USCe 49 to Clemson
Tenn 45 to Oregon
Tua's pick six cost us that one.....but I'll blame the receivers who wouldn't tackle more than Tua

Texas A&M 59 to Alabama
Vanderbilt 59 to Alabama

That's not bad considering the Oklahoma loss was right after the Kick 6 loss and our players heads were not fully in the game.
Not only that, the final touchdown was a fumble inside our own 10 returned for a TD with 47 seconds left.

It's a fluke stat. SCAR in 2010 dominated us FAR MORE than OU did that night even with the heads elsewhere.

So, I dug in and looked to see what I could come up with that keeps this an All-SEC family:

Bama lost to USCe by 14 in 2010.
USCe lost to Auburn by 39
Tenn got beat by Arkansas by 42

So really, Auburn added one more win, but our margin didn't decrease. We didn't pick up another win...

The thing that sticks out to me is that our biggest loss is 14 points in a major bowl game. The next worst performance is 32 in a typical conference game. Also, the average loss excluding ours is 47.5.

Btw - if anyone is just wondering about Saban's biggest losses overall as a college coach:

Nebraska by 41 (1996)
Nebraska by 40 (1995)
Stanford by 38 (1996)
Oregon by 34 (1998)
Florida by 32 (2000)
Alabama by 31 (2002)
Wisconsin by 30 (1999)
Florida by 29 (2001)
Georgia by 29 (2004)

His biggest Alabama losses were by 14 points to Utah (2008) and Oklahoma (2013) both in the Sugar Bowl. Even in 2007 - with Mike Shula's team - he didn't lose by more than 7 points all year long.

Now look at the big losses closer - the 1995 Nebraska loss was in his FIRST GAME at Mich St against a team that is a contender as greatest ever.
The Florida loss in 2000 was with Gerry DiNardo's 3-8 bunch from 1999 (mostly) at the apex of Spurrier's genius.

The thing is, you have to figure EVERY coach is gonna have A FEW of those losses in his career.

Bryant's biggest losses at Alabama were to 1971 Nebraska (32 points - in a national title game) and by 27 to Tennessee in 1969.
His largest loss at ATM was his first game in 1954 to TX Tech by 32. He lost by 28 to the Vols in 1951 and 27 to BOTH Florida and
LSU in 1952.

Spurrier - who liked to run scores up on folks - lost games by 45-3 (90 Vols), 38 points (95 Nebraska national title game), and an SEC title game to Mike DuBose by 27 points (99). At SCAR, he lost by 50 (08 Florida), by 41 (05 Auburn), 39 to Auburn in the 2010 SECCG, 33 to Florida in 2012, and 32 to UGA just 3 weeks before he quit.

And two of those losses were in games following what were basically crushing, NC-elimination games. Not excusing it, but our guys simply weren’t up for the two sugar bowls against Utah and Oklahoma because nothing was really on the line in either of those games.

So clearly we need to beat Arkansas by 54, Georgia by 33 (in the SECCG), LSU by 35, Missouri by 38, and Tennessee by 46 this year. Oh and the 1st team offense needs to beat the 2nd team by 15 on A-day.

on the uga thing, we just missed giving them their biggest loss, but we are responsible for what are likely the two most heartbreaking losses in uga history (seccg & nccg) and two very embarrassing losses (2008 & 2015) although with so many embarrassing losses in their history, it's hard to pick a worst.

i can take comfort in that.
