My mom has T-town covered. She's in her perch watching the sky, and monitoring radar and barometric changes. T-town is good hands.
After surviving 2 too close for comfort tornadoes, I would rather not have a third one to test my luck.
Big ole thunderstorm just rolled through the metro. Hail all around town. Now the sun is out. Nice unstable airmass.
How the storm that produced the warning looked on the GOES16 satellite.
I'm in the 4-8p range. Heading home about 3:30 or so. Kids got out of school here @ 12p. The mother of one of my son's friend was very concerned about the severe threat. She is a single mom and doesnt have anywhere to go if it gets severe. We have a full, finished basement. I told her not to hesitate to come over. I feel sorry for people like her who don't have anywhere to go. I know some people are annoyed by the advanced warnings because often they don't pan out. But, I am glad we've got the technology to predict and make people aware of what's coming. Our state lost a lot of lives on 4/27/11. I wonder how many were saved because of advanced warnings. I didnt take James Spann's warnings seriously until I saw the live footage of the tornado hitting Cullman. Changed my attitude about it.

After missing the '89 hsv tornado by mere minutes, the '95 hsv tornado, 2011...and several in between, I have great respect for the weather. Biggest thing now is, I have an instant radar in my hand at all times and can make better decisions. It's not too bad here in north bama, but we gotta stay weather alert. Watch that new line forming back over towards oxford, ms.
Looks like we've dodged it, but Calhoun and Cleburn counties got hammered. Cullman and several others with major hail damage. Jacksonville State University and that area has been hammered.
I live in Jacksonville. It is a mess here, but we aren’t hurt.

Was up to midnight checking on parents and friends, helping assess the damage. South downtown Cullman got pounded from hail with some as large as baseballs. The residential area from south of Hwy 278 and east of I-65, the ball fields at Heritage Park (where RTS is held), Mitch Smith Chevrolet and Serra Nissan car lots all received a tremendous amount of hail with substantial property damage across the area. Thankfully no injuries reported that I'm aware of.
The pics from your neck of the woods are pretty sobering. Glad everyone is ok.
Times like this I'm glad I convinced my wife to let me get a metal roof put on the house. Cullman.
Welcome to April, everyone. Strong storms possible again today. All of Alabama could see severe weather, but everyone at or west of I65 be especially careful.
