he used to sit around at college keggers coming up with ways to do so.No doubt his only regret is that he wasn't able to make life even worse for poor people.
My wife and I both work for Non-profits. We are poor.No doubt his only regret is that he wasn't able to make life even worse for poor people.
If you have any kids you are just taking away from their future so you can have a little more now.My wife and I both work for Non-profits. We are poor.
Thanks to the new tax bill, we have a lot of extra funds each month to dedicate to paying off debt.
I'm in better shape because of the tax bill he helped pass, and I'm thankful. We can get our debt snowball rolling and be nearly debt free within 2 years.
Of course, that's just anecdotal, but I fall in the bracket, and that's my story.
Exactly! The previous discussion about voting based on the Party Platform... Do we really think that the Republican Party is going to say something like....No doubt his only regret is that he wasn't able to make life even worse for poor people.
We saw zero impact on our finances from the tax bill. Nothing extra on paychecks. My wife and I both work for Non-profits. We are poor.

Right now interest payments on the debt is equivalent to about 14% of payroll taxes. With the deficit accelerating and interest rates rising, in a few years 14% will look pretty good.
I believe you, and I appreciate the added perspective. We saw zero impact on our finances from the tax bill. Nothing extra on paychecks.
Not doubting you, just adding my story.
Tax cuts have been rolled back or allowed to expire, but it's notoriously hard. Certainly it's not going to happen with Congress as it's presently constituted or with the present president...I don't have kids. So it really only helps me now.
They WILL need to do something about the deficit. That was my biggest heartburn with this whole thing. I assumed the plan was to continue to cut other programs and funding to help subsidize. I liked the cuts but I didn't feel the defense budget needed to balloon as much as it did.
I was in favor of temporarily spending more for a deep audit of the military budget and it's ancillary contractors to help increase efficiency, reduce redundancy, and field a comparable for for less cost long term. Instead they just threw more money at it overall. Not a good decision in my book even though I'm pro defense.
But I think in the short term it's a good boost and has helped me and many of my contemporaries in the same tax bracket eras debt, save for houses and cars etc etc.
I don't think it's viable long term - but from what I was reading, it's not the intent for it to be long term.
I woulda been happy to see it give some extra money. Because at least then the negative effects I see it having long-term could be offset a bit in the short term and let us better prepare for it by also getting debt knocked off.I believe you, and I appreciate the added perspective.
I know it doesn't help the situation but you fell in a very narrow spectrum of people who saw no effect in their paychecks at all. Most Americans did get a bump. I read the number the other day but forget what it is.I woulda been happy to see it give some extra money. That's not really what I've seen/been reading:I know it doesn't help the situation but you fell in a very narrow spectrum of people who saw no effect in their paychecks at all. Most Americans did get a bump. I read the number the other day but forget what it is.
Well, those are polls. Not hard data collected by non-partisan agencies...also all 3 polls are months old. I didn't notice a change in our paychecks until the middle of March.
I'm amendable to considering recent data aside from polls. This should be able to be better tracked using better quantitive devices than polling. For the LIFE of me I couldn't find the article where I saw the number or Americans who should be currently experiencing positive effects from the change. Lord knows, I looked. lolIn 2018, most U.S. taxpayers can expect some kind of tax cut, according to just about every analysis. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center found that more than 80 percent of taxpayers would get a tax cut, with less than 5 percent getting a tax increase.
