here is the thing about this. We will keep some spots open because Saban will zero in on certain players (Surtain etc). It actually helps Saban in the long run.

And 17 may be the best class Bama has ever signed - yes, better than 08. And it is needed because 16 was not good and though we obviously don't know yet, 18 has a relatively low ceiling. So, this class is needed and it appears to be super. If so, that will be enough to compensate. CNS obviously knew that, hence the "new" staff, though Tosh is spectacular and a life saver and Locksley is good and Key is doing well this year.
Way too early on '16 to say it was not good and we had the #1 class.

Yeah, I was just referring to the coaches from the "old" staff. It seems that all of the new guys are doing well, especially Gattis.
IMO, Tosh is the "monster" recruiter on this staff and has been from the beginning of his tenure. No way CNS was going to let him go, even if he demanded to be the OC :smile:.
Actually, I was thinking about the '15 class. 11 or almost half of that class have already left the program for reasons other than the NFL. 4 more left for the NFL - but that's good. The '16 class is not trending well either, 7 are no longer with the program, but you're right, it is too early to render a final verdict on that class. Just because a class was ranked high does not mean it was a good or in Bama's case a relatively good class - IMO, 15 was not.
Tosh has been a monster since he was at Cal. He should be here another 4-5 years or longer since he is just learning to call plays. He doesn't seem to be a guy that will take a small college job either. Might give Kirby a run for longest tenured DC. This staff is doing major work in a short time. The energy and momentum around the program is outstanding. June will be a big month since July is a dead period.
