It's unconstitutional as hell. Of course, the many Jewish lawyers of the ACLU will be the first to attack it... :D
No way in the world this holds up.

The proviso defines anti-semitism as:

▪ a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities

▪ calling for, aiding or justifying the killing or harming of Jews

▪ making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing or stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as a collective

▪ accusing Jews as a people of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing committed by a single Jewish person or group, the state of Israel or even for acts committed by non-Jews

▪ accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust

▪ accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interest of their own nations

▪ using the symbols and images associated with classic anti-Semitism to characterize Israel or Israelis

▪ drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis

▪ blaming Israel for all inter-religious or political tensions

▪ applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation

▪ multilateral organizations focusing on Israel only for peace or human rights investigations

▪ denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination and denying Israel the right to exist, provided that criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as anti-Semitic

The coverage of the recent assaults on Israel's borders should be enough to convince anyone of the bias against Israel by the MSM. This negative coverage only increases anti-Semitism and this legislation is just a feeble attempt to combat bias.

Like just about everything else, forces are in play to divide us to force conformity to the global agenda. What is this agenda? The U.S. is bad. Israel is bad. Borders are bad. White people (especially white men) are bad. Trump is bad. The Bible/Christians are bad. Guns are bad.

Trying to pick the good guy/bad guy in Palestine is problematic. One side practices apartheid, uses the best of our most advanced weapons, jets, other armaments. The other side sends suicide bombers and rockets into Israel.

They each have a right to exist, and legitimate beefs against the other side. But each side is beholden to extremists.(Orthodox and other right-wing elements in Israel; Hamas in Gaza and Fatah still committed to armed struggle on the West Bank.)

What makes matters worse in this country is the consistent notion that any criticism of Israeli government policy is anti-Semitic. It is the 3rd rail of American politics, unfortunately.

if we want to talk about antisemitism, we also have the issue in the states of fundies being convinced that they are doing the lord's work in fulfilling prophesy wrt to israel policy.

Yet rewind the clock to 1939 and many of these same people thought Hitler was an okay guy.

Idk. I think we as a country should support Israel to the degree that they wouldn’t be conquered by their Arab neighbors, but supporting Israel’s sole claim over Jerusalem is pretty stupid and is more Trump playing to his more crazier base than him really thinking it was necessary.

Every other President avoided the Jerusalem embassy thing because they recognized the implications.

Another example of why elections have consequences. So much was at stake in 2016, yet people who could have stopped this train wreck either stayed home or voted for some throwaway 3rd party candidate.

It's too bad that we can't just have a caretaker/Gerald Ford government for the next two years and have a do-over in 2020. Maybe both parties won't put forth such awful choices.

There's no reason to blame anyone but the two parties and the people who vote for them no matter what and the people who were suckered in by Trump. The two parties take advantage of the people who believe only one or the other can win and the voters allowed that. Everyone knew who Trump was at election time whether they dismissed that knowledge or not.

I voted 3rd party. I live in CA. Had no difference in the outcome. However, the folks in the rust belt who bought Trump's BS should have known better, but Hillary was their only other "realistic choice". Make 3rd parties more viable with the electorate and the whole equation changes from either Trump or Clinton to "who is the best person out of all these for the job?" IOW, 3rd party was never the problem. Only two parties being seen as "legitimate" was the problem all along.

Don't ever count on the two parties putting forth better candidates. But maybe if we increase choices we'll have better ones all around.

I keep saying divide and conquer. What was the line used by the Austrian Nazi in The Sum of All Fears? "Hitler wasn't crazy, Hitler stupid. You don't fight America and Russia, you get America and Russia to fight each other. And destroy each other." I'm sure I've missed part of it, but the point being, the powers that be get the so-called Republicans and the so-called Democrats to become so divided and hate-filled toward one another that eventually they will destroy one another. It's easier to control people through manipulation and most folks are truly manipulated in some form or fashion by the powers that be.
And people lap it up like pigs. People spend so much time excusing behavior and policies on "their side" and attacking the "other side" that they don't even think for themselves. Get rid of the us or them mentality and people might consider other (and better) choices in candidates and policies.
