We don't know what cannabis can or can't do because research was pretty much nil. We do know that immune cells have cannabinoid receptors. Some have taken that and a few case reports to claim more than the evidence supports.

So there is some evidence and that evidence may grow in the future.

I always ask for hard evidence when someone makes these miracle claims. They are more often than not anecdotal.

The alt-health'ers are still promoting laetrile (basically, cyanide) as a miracle cure for cancer. And the myth that Big Pharma keeps the big secret of curing cancer because they make more money by keeping people sick.

I'm with you on people making unsupported claims.

Then again anecdotal evidence is sometimes enough to give something a try, especially if there is even some limited evidence to support it beyond that. That's what prompted us to use CBD on my son - that, and a touch of desperation. I won't get into the details, but the need for something to work was dire and CBD helped on the first try. The other meds help too and after a year we have a pretty good regimen that we are still tweaking but works pretty well. It includes CBD twice a day currently.

Anecdotal indeed. I know personally a woman who had Macular Degenerative disease REVERSED with CO.
I can document online conversations with those who take it for Chrohnís Disease and have no relapses or episodes and havenít since they started taking it.
My oldest brother (went to UA), takes CBD for anxiety, as does his son whoís a diagnosed schizophrenic. Heís a biochemist by education and career.
Thank your government for no research on this (DEA). It doesnít diminish the many applications (when does anecdotal evidence become reality) as an analgesic and even a cure for more than a few diseases/afflictions.
If you take it for something modern medicine either canít easily cure or treat with risky meds, and it works for you, Iím sorry but thatís proof.
Regarding the Macular Degenerative disease mentioned earlier, marijuana has always been known to be a remedy for glaucoma.
I can also personally attest to the fact, with years of trials, that it prevents seasickness in ANY conditions, so being a remedy for Crohnís is not a stretch IMO.
CBD has many benefits - if you have a problem that it is reported to help, try it and see if it works. Wonít hurt and unlike CO itís legal everywhere.

PUBLIC NOTICEFROM: Steve Marshall, Alabama Attorney General; Hal Taylor, Secretary ofthe Alabama Law Enforcement Agency; Barry Matson, ExecutiveDirector of the Office of Prosecution Services; Angelo Della Manna,Director of the Alabama Department of Forensic Science sSUBJECT: Guidance on Alabama Law Regarding the Possession, Use, Sale, orDistribution of CBDNOTE: This notice has been updated to reflect recent action by the U.S.Congress regarding cannabidiol (CBD) derived from industrial hemp. OnDecember 12, 2018, the U.S. House of Representatives gave final passage to theAgricultural Improvement Act of 2018i which is expected to be signed into law. This bill contains a provision legalizing industrial hemp, beyond the existing pilotprograms passed by Congress in 2014. As a result of this Congressional a ction,CBD derived from industrial hemp, with a THC concentrat ion of not more than.3%, can be legally produced, sold, and possessed in the State of Alabama. However, as stated in the bill, the new federal law will not prevent states fromadopting laws to restrict or regulate the production of industrial hemp.Furthermore, prescription drugs and other consumables containing CBD willcontinue to be regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The guidancebelow still applies to CBD derived from marijuana or CBD derived from hempwith above a .3% (three one-thousandths) THC concentration.
I am terribly happy that this passed and that Alabama so quickly recognized it without having to be dragged kicking and screaming as usual.

They have been selling CBD locally for over a year; I believe they were only selling product that had 0 THC.
Law now allows for .3%; my question is, we know what THC does (creating unique compounds in the bladder/urinary tract that hang around for days), so will this accumulate and possibly cause a daily user to fail a urine test?

AFAIK, no one generally tests for CBD itself, but anyone claiming zero THC in their CBD product stretches the bounds of credulity. It may not be enough to get you high, but it's there and may cause a positive urine test for THC.

I recently saw a news story about a CBD seller being shut down near B'ham. Can't remember if he was arrested. This, just within the past 2 weeks or so. I know some places sell it but the cops were trying to send a message.

Health Hut here even advertises on their sign that they sell it, have done so for many months.
Maybe itís a judgement call by local LEOís. But I have been told by several sellers (even my brother, the biochemist) it is possible to manufacture CBD from HEMP (which has practically no THC anyway) with 0 THC content.
Still searching for an answer on the accumulation question, as this could be problematic for those who undergo drug screens if, in fact, it could cause a buildup high enough to fail the test. I know tests allow for a certain amount in the urine, but itís not very much.

I know some claim to remove all THC and while it is possible to remove almost all I don't know of any method that reliably removes all THC on an industrial production scale. Again, it is possible but there is a risk since the methods are not fool-proof and there is little to no oversight in the industry which means testing is not uniformly reliable. So if this is an important issue (THC testing) it would behoove anyone to do their research and still have to understand that there's still a chance.

ETA: Cutoff for most tests is between 15 and 50 ng/ml

And what if THC was the active ingredient for a therapy?

    Again, research is needed.

Unfortunately, employment law is behind and most employers to boot. There's a lot of "slack" in the system. Until law and/or companies catch up with the times this will continue to be a potential issue. I'd like to see companies stop testing for it except where it needed (example - transportation industries) or to make the test meaningful in regards to actual impairment, whether done with concentration that matters or even combined with physical testing.

Yeppers. My sig other's son in a senior marketing major. Loves him some cannabis (along with his frat buddies).

I told him that he had better take drug testing into account when he starts farming his resume' around later this year.

He doesn't seem concerned. I told him that, since drug testing came into the picture in the '80s, every single job (except one) that I've accepted required a drug screen.

i am probably in the minority, but i am turning 50 this coming summer and i have never had to submit to a drug screen.
