the # 2 OT in the nation and # 1 player in the state of Ohio left for Clemson in 2018.

There was a lot more to this one. This guy is a tool and I am glad that he went to Clemson. Urban didn't coddle him when he acted like a child - Dabo did. Dabo got him. Good luck with that.

As for OSU landing the best players in state - we have only lost out on the best player in Ohio 4 times in the last 20 years.

This is true but with him camping here in 6th grade is meaningful. That’s before he would be a star in middle school 7th or 8th and before he would grow into the ol he is. Ohio state and Bama will have loaded classes before him. I think it’s one to watch, we will be selective after this class

I don’t know the difference between a preferred walk on and any other type of [edit] walk on. Perhaps someone could enlighten me. I would think there is a considerable difference between a situation where we are offering someone a walk on slot versus a scholarship.

I agree, but at the risk of speaking for others, I think the problem is the perception by some that it`s a condition being placed by a recruit. " I`ll strongly consider your school if you do this for my ( fill in the blank )". Could well be, but it`s a competitive world out there.

While Alabama would technically be giving up a roster spot (a roster spot that would go to a walk-on no matter what), UA isn't giving up a scholarship.

Wouldn't be thrilled if the guy was getting a scholarship like Keenan Allen wanted for his brother, but this doesn't seem to be a big deal since it's still only a walk-on spot.

Yep, I would gladly take his brother as a PWO if we get Trey.

One anomaly: tOSU doesn't recruit the Cincinnati area well.

Would not at all be surprised, particularly with us taking the 4* RB from the DC area. Those two things could well be related. I`m sure Jam, Skeeter, Sanjose or some others are all over this one.

The kid from DC is not an every down kind of player. He’s more of a small do-everything sort of guy. We still need a big back

Agreed. We are taking 2 RB's in this class. Last year we only signed one RB and he was a smaller back also so we do need a bigger back and Trey Sanders is #1 on that list.

Tideflyer, Bama is taking one more back and yes Sanders is #1 priority for sure. but there are some other backs still in play if Sanders decides on someone else. FYI, Robinson was one of the targets Bama was after. here is a list of other RBs:

If we miss on Sanders I would love Emery. With Davis already committed to LSWho this may be more reason we could land Emery.

Thanks SJC. I suppose that my concern/supposition was that we had been informed that Sanders had indicated or outright informed the staff that he was headed elsewhere for sure. If that`s not the case then I`ll happily be in error insofar as my supposition is concerned!!

When I started this thread three weeks ago it was due to us picking up CB's for Sanders and he was trending back toward us and believe I read an article where he had told the staff he was still very interested. I have not read or heard anything since other than somebody mentioning his brother may be going to FLA.

Well, the staff and University will do all they can. That`s all you can do, and then it`s up to the kids and their families. We`ll find out when we find out.

We may not get a top flight RB this cycle. And that’s ok. D. Harris coming back and B. Robinson emerging means we can bring Jerome Ford on a little slower. And the kid we just picked up for 2020 yesterday will be more than fine.

Don’t be shocked one way or the other with Sanders. I’ve heard some positive things in the past few days but I’m fairly pessimistic.
