Cracks me up that some here cannot admit that AU has good teams most years. Lotsa talent and sometimes they're really good. It doesn't mean Bama is bad, but sometimes they're better.
They are unbelievably unpredictable. In years they're predicted to be championship material, you can count on 5+ losses. And they're at their most dangerous when predicted to struggle.

I gave up long ago trying to attach expectations to that crew.

As long as they have Malzahn and a transfer QB, they're dangerous.

All offensive systems depend on the QB. Malzahn's does in the extreme. Without at least an all-conference caliber player at that position, it's pedestrian. With one, they can beat anybody. Though even then, you can usually count on Malzahn to yak up at least two coaching losses over the course of the season.

Their season rides on two intertwined things...the development of an inexperienced OL, and the health of Stidham. But mainly on Stidham.

If he makes it to November even reasonably healthy, they're in the running. If not, they're average at best.
