Hennepin County prosecutors did not file charges against the players connected to the case. But a subsequent investigation by the school's Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action office led to the expulsions or suspensions of five players. The other five players were reinstated through their appeals. An outside panel concluded the university had followed the law and its official policies in the handling of the case. Madgett, however, said school investigators ignored text messages, videos and other evidence in its attempt to strengthen its cases against the players.
Madgett said the university used the players, who are all black, as "pawns." He also said he believes the EOAA office has a bias against male athletes, football players in particular. "I think it's kind of this arcane belief that these guys are just testosterone-filled guys who maybe have a little more aggression," he said.

I'll watch this one with interest. Title IX has been corrupted into a kangaroo court. I don't know the details of this particular case but no charges were filed.

It's wrong to try to correct for likely past wrongs by railroading innocent young men.

So is the question about if these players participated in an orgy Or a rape? Or do they claim that all nine didn't have sex with the girl?

They have claimed that evidence indicates they did not sexually assault her. IIRC, that evidence included communications (texts) and video of the night in question. The case was referred to police but no charges were filed.

On the surface it appears similar to the Duke lacrosse case with the exception of the race of the accused and the timing being after the Title IX changes.

The fact that administration was advised the panel was likely to find in the favor of the athletes and allegedly were told they should reconsider is an important point.

Title IX was never meant to justify bias toward a guilty finding of the accused after stripping bare their right to self defense, but that has been the application of late too often.

Did they have sex with her or not? I'm still confused on that point.....

This also will resonate with the #metoo movement..... If one girl has sex with 9-10 guys and it gets thrown under the rug -- as a "she wanted it" type of defense.... that could cause some drama as well.

This sounds like an SVU episode....

Well, did she willingly have sex with them or was she sexually assaulted should be the question. If she really did want it then that has to be considered no matter how she felt about it the next day.

I'm not concerned about drama. Drama is going to happen. Justice should be blind to it. Justice has to be based on the truth, whatever that is, and not some agenda.

Apparently this is a somewhat common thing now. No thank you from my point of view. I could live without sloppy seconds and STD's, not to mention the risk of an false accusation.

I had no idea, I was thinking this type stuff was limited to porn.

With nine or ten guys that age in top physical condition taking turns trying to "out-perform" each other in a group setting..."sloppy seconds" would be just getting started. :eek2:
