You really have to tip your cap to Peterson here. This is the highest rated recruit in the history of Washington Huskies football. He knew that Kaho was going to Alabama when he gave him his release, but he also knew that he wasn't happy at Washington. He put the human needs of this player ahead of the football needs of his school. This is a great story that isn't getting enough attention.

Looks got Bama got a nice "free agent" commit! Holding my breath until he is actually signed and enrolled. I wish him the best regardless.

I'm excited about his ability to add depth for the end of the season - however he is going to arrive under-weight (been suffering apparently from weight loss), out of football shape, having missed spring camp and some of fall, and knowing little about the scheme and the playbook. In addition, although 247 was high on him, one of the other recruiting services thought him a 3-star only.

But let's see what he can do. I'd much rather have an extra 5-star ILB in hand right now than an open slot come February.

With all the expectations that would be expected of him from the beginning, being such as is of a highly regarded, ranked recruit...and considering he probably was behind in conditioning as well as knowing Washington's play book, from missing a lot of if not all of Washington's summer workouts because of family issues... He may have decided, along with his family, he would have a better chance coming to Bama and being brought along at a slower pace, a pace without any overly high expectations to start out with especially if reports of weight loss and conditioning are true.

Expectations at Washington you know would have been through the roof and coach Peterson knowing his situation, may have realized his best bet would be to go to Bama and wait his turn! Who knows? :)

We could trade him Jalen, if he wants.

So, he can play this season? For those in the know, how can he transfer and play right away? Either way, RTR and welcome!

To clarify, Bama and UW were his 1A and 1B choices. Many of us were surprised when it wasn't Bama. Yes, there are family problems - deaths and a divorce. However, it appears that Bama feels more like "family" now. I think too much is being made of the geography...
Yep, most services had him as a Bama lock so it was surprising he picked UW. Coach Tosh and our Polynesian players, which in many ways is family, had a lot to do with him now deciding to come to Bama.

Sounds like he never enrolled at UW, and was given a full release from his NLI. It is as if he had not committed to any school and was free to sign with any school that had room for him in the 2018 class.

This is one time that Alabama can be glad that you didn't sign a full class.

Saban said in his presser that he isn't allowed to talk about Kaho yet, so that probably means that you don't have a signed NLI from him yet (or that Saban has been busy with practice and just doesn't know yet).

It is worth checking the Recruiting Board from time to time. Jambama has been on this since last Thursday.

To those who have seen his tape it's obvious that he is much closer to a 5 than a 3. He has great instincts and hits like a ton of bricks. Not quite Reuben-like but he's a man and loves to play.
