It ain't even "really" that big a deal.

"If Candidate X wins, you will die" might be the oldest campaign tactic in the book.

Reagan was going to destroy the world in a nuclear war (and I wasn't born but before that we were told the same about Goldwater).
Clinton's health care plan will destroy the country.
Bush's foreign policy will destroy the country.
Obamacare will destroy the country.
Trump will destroy the country.

Puh-leeze, it's just the whining of the "true believers" or the "we have a particular financial interest (perceived) at stake."

"If my candidate/ideology doesn't win, the entire world will fall to pieces" is the same kind of crap as Bob Costas finding the most mundane regular season baseball game as one of the greatest match ups of all-time.

Trump is a d-bag. He isn't Hitler (he isn't that smart).
And Hillary wouldn't have been, either.

(It's always amusing to me that rich business people remain rich business people regardless of who is in power - mostly because they think like business owners and don't actually invest themselves emotionally in the ideological red herrings we get in our elections).
How dare you apologize for Trump! Racist!

Has he told you he is? Just curious.
i have known quite a few racists in my life. very few of them think they are racist, they think they are completely justified in their superiority and that justification makes it totally not racism.

as to trump, racists seem to think he is a racist. and he does a lot of racist things.

You mean like the democrats who think they know what's best for the African American community?

This is the second post I have read today saying the U.S. will one day reach third world status. It has me wondering if the same people would be singing the same time if another person had won the presidential election. We only have to deal with the man for 4 years and the democrats, who will oppose him at every turn, control the house his last 2 years. The country is not headed toward 3rd world status, it has merely taken a bad turn for the past few years that will be corrected in a few years if we do what is necessary.
One only needs to have some appreciation of implications of the US government having $21.2 Trillion in debt on our future capability to fund basic governmental functions such as infrastructure development, pay our domestic obligations, maintain our credit rating necessary to fund our debt in the world market and maintain the value of the US Dollar relative to other currencies.

One could go on into the mountain of unfunded liabilities at all levels of government that are principally retirement related and the huge pile of corporate and private debt that is dependent on low interest rates for it to be serviceable if at all.

Without going on into the economics of the US's inevitable decline as global power one should visit Germany, Norway, South Korea or Japan to look at the conditions of their roads. bridges, railways and airports then return to New York, Miami or Washington DC and see the comparison. Even Brazil with its pitiful economy has far superior domestic air travel than what is available in the US.

You can, however, go on if you wish and believe that we just need to make a few tweaks and everything will be OK.

So, you know a lot of racists? Should we judge you by the company you keep?

Little did I know he was actually saying "I hate everyone who isn't white" every time he opened his mouth. I'll be more attentive going forward. Thanks for the heads up!
It would be nice if more folks would be more attentive going forward. But I understand it's really tough to actually listen to what someone that stupid & racist says on a daily basis.

i grew up in rural alabama. it was impossible to avoid. like shopping at wal mart.
Known them all my life. Even have family members who are and work with a bunch, a few of whom I’m pretty sure wore hoods decades ago.

Oh this is poppycock - more tax cuts for the rich!
No one will mind paying tolls to drive on paved roads.

I have no qualm with saying Trump is either:
a) a racist himself
b) a shameless peddler of fictions that appeal to the most base, racist instincts in some people

The "X is racist" IS way overused as little more than a weapon in the game, but let's not pretend this one is even remotely ambiguous.

(On a side note: I subscribe to a lot of online papers if they're free. There was an article in the Burlington Free Press in Vermont yesterday about a long-haired Texas leftist lawyer who moved up to Vermont because, hey, it's Bernie Sanders country, it's a socialist, free love, idealist, utopia of tolerance.

He was shocked to discover that in supposed off-the-record discussions that people who give no public inkling of being racist utter stuff as vile - or even worse, he admitted - than he heard in Texas. Anyone who has had ANY kind of business dealings up north knows this dirty little secret.

Now he's stuck with the same kind of wicked human beings and higher heating bills in the winter).

But Trump is either a racist or obsessed with race baiting. The guy has a long history that makes Trent Lott's questionable past look saintly by comparison.

I also grew up in rural Alabama and, while one can certainly find people who have backwards attitudes and use backwards language, in my experience (and pointedly in my wife's experience) where one finds the damaging applied racism is in the NY/NJ/Conn area and in DC. Friends of mine from Philly, Boston, NY, and DC were amazed that their experience upon moving to the South did not match the narrative. They commented on how racist attitudes are the standard where they are from and found nothing of substance in the South. My experience abroad and my conversations with friends from various corners of the world were eye-openers as well. It really put things in context.
