It's early yet and we played a cupcake.

But..the difference in atmosphere and attitude is night and day.

Last night was fun!

The future looks bright.........

Feleipe Franks threw five touchdowns passes in the first 30 minutes in a 53-6 win against Charleston Southern.

Backup QB's Kyle Trask and Emory Jones split playing time in the second half.

Franks connected for touchdowns with Ohio State transfer Trevon Grimes, Mississippi transfer Van Jefferson (twice), Josh Hammond, and Tyrie Cleveland.

His five TDs were the most by a Florida player in a game since Tebow’s college finale in the 2010 Sugar Bowl.

“We’re just scratching the surface.” Franks said. “We’ve got a long way to go.”

The defense allowed 225 yards, notched three sacks and forced three turnovers.

Keep in mind.....Charleston Southern and Felipe Franks threw 5 TDs in the first half.......

Ed Orgeron could have pulled that feat off.....lol.....

I do think Mullen is a better coach -- but I don't know if last night's performance proves that.

Bazza, I'm glad you guys had a solid performance. I am hoping that someone in the East can develop into a contender again so they can give UGA a bit of a challenge.

Franks looked much improved. The Gators could very well compete in the East this year.

I hope you guys win the East Bazza!!!

Though I'll admit a majority portion of that is me wanting to take pleasure in the misery of UGA and Kirby:wink:

CC ---

Putting things into perspective......Franks threw only 7 TD passes in the entire season last year.

Last night he threw 5.......in only one half.

Our QB position was my biggest concern for this season. It's early - but so far I like what I'm seeing!

Yeah, opponent be darned. I saw FF do some things in the pocket and in his progressions that he just wasn’t able to last year. He’s grown up some too.

I think we saw what UF can be again but there will be struggles against supremely talented teams down the stretch. Dan has a culture change project on his hands and really has to recruit better to get back where they want to be.

I think the difference is Mullen is a qb whisper and Mac/Nuss are not. I think Mac got way too much credit for AJ, and I think most of it was undeserved.

Mullen will probably have the team competing for 2nd to 4th in the East this year, and will have a solid trend up within the next 3-4 years to challenge UGA. Yeah I know its just 1 game, and its against a cupcake, but I just have this feeling he isn't going to be out of his element like Mac.

Glad to hear it for you!

And I hope the Gators can bring some balance to the east and challenge Georgia too!

Congrats Bazza. FF played a lot better than at any time last year. He has improved, but as I said in another thread, (IMO) Jones will be the starter before the end of the year.

Congratulations. Though some think the East belongs to UGA this year, IMO, you have an outside shot. You have more talent than most people realize and Mullen is a good coach. IMO, it was his departure after 08 that began UM's downfall. Best wishes.

I hope so, bazza. The SEC East needs another contender, and Mullen seems like a good fit at UF. A Gator resurgence will make it harder for TinnerC to rise from the ashtrays 😁
