We went to Starkville last year and the fans were fine There was *one* guy that was obnoxious, but that's not unexpected.

We'll probably doe TAMU next year. I'm not sure when we'll do Arkansas. I've been to Fayetteville before and that drive is brutal. My wife said we should fly but I pointed out that that's not very practical.

I sat in the Bama section, had a great time. We arrived in Oxford around 1PM and not a single (literally, no one) OM fan had anything negative to say. Every comment was something like "I just hope we can keep it close".

Of course we weren't near the student section, which I always avoid - I don't care what school you visit, the students are going to be drunk, rowdy, and rude.
I was there too. Did you see the fight that broke out between the Bama and Ole Miss fan?

The worst visiting fan I've seen in BDS was an Ole Miss fan who missed 3 quarters of the game after being ejected. His plea to the police officer that he could say what he wanted was found unsatisfactory.

Went to Starkville last year as well. Only encountered maybe 1 or 2 incidents during the game. I just can’t stand the cowbells. They are leagues better than Ole Miss fans because they don’t have a sense of entitlement. Ole Miss has a prettier campus but a dump as a stadium compared to MSU.

As for LSU.... Their fans are loud and obnoxious, but it’s more in a funny and fun way, and not in a horrible way like UGA fans. Yeah some can take it too far, but for every bad LSU fan story there are 5 to 6 stories of where there is a little ribbing that leads to LSU fans feeding you and drinking with you before and after the game. Death Valley at Night might be the best atmosphere in college football, and something any college football fan should experience at least once. I would go this year again but I’m planning a trip to go to the TSIO at Neyland. But from my experiences LSU fans are worse in Tuscaloosa than they are in BR.

No, missed that. In fact, I didn't see anything that raised an eyebrow. Where did the fight happen?
We were in section R row 13. It happened 3 rows down from us. Saw OM fan throw his drink on Bama fan. Bama guy spun around and threw his fist in to the OM fan's face. Was broken up pretty quick. Security showed up and escorted the OM guy out. Came back a few minutes later and grabbed the Bama guy. From what the people on top of the action said the OM fan kept antagonizing the Bama fan with their shakers. They asked them to quit. They didn't. Things escalated quickly.

We were in Starkville last year as well. The State fan next to us bought us drinks. Was definitely a more pleasant experience.

I don’t know how you folks keep your cool. I have a bad temper and would probably get myself in a little trouble. It’s best for me to stay home and watch on TV during away games!

That’s interesting because we all have our biases. Auburn fans and Bama fans are going to call each other the worst, Florida and Florida State will hate on each other, etc. But without fail, every fan I have talked to, no matter the team, has said that Georgia has horrible fans. This includes people from outside the SEC.
I used to know a guy who was a big barner. Went to a bunch of their games. He said he didn’t mind Bama but hated UGA.

Well JHS has the distinction of being one of the only stadiums to be stormed by both a home and an away team. So yeah I can see why UGA fans are not as liked or tolerated by Barners as Bama fans. But I really saw why in the 2018 CFPNCG.

I've been to Oxford for several games, including one we lost recently. I have never experienced anything but courtesy and polite humor. Someone or more has always bought a drink for me as well. With that said, I wouldn't sit near any student section, including BAMA's.

I was there when an OM student threw a whiskey bottle that hit a camera man. There was one year during the Cutcliffe era that, after the game, my wife and I were cussed at over and over by a couple of 10-12 year old Rebels. Their parents thought it was funny until I finally turned around and started walking back to where the parents were; then I was the jerk for calling the parents out. One year, was invited to tailgate in the Grove by the wife's boss. Pre-game was fantastic. Everyone was super nice and commented on how they expected to lose and just hoped to not lose too badly. After the game, not a single one of them would even speak to us. Was there the year some classy lady threw her red shoes onto the field. (they like to throw stuff onto the field in Oxford)

Needless to say, we don't make an effort to go to games in Oxford any longer. Been there done that.

We were in S, zero issues there.

And if someone throws their drink on me, I'll probably be escorted out by security after my response as well...

My wife and I are slowly making our way around the SEC to watch Bama (6 down, 8 to go). So far we’ve been to Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Knoxville, Nashville, Starkville and now Oxford.

The food was fantastic at Ajax.

The Grove was what I imagined: a fancier, more tightly packed version of the quad.

The fans, though, were the worst I’ve seen. We were near the student section. I was hit with ice. In the first half every good Bama play was met with an obscene chant about Bama. I saw more middle fingers than at any other game.

I know there are worse fans, but Oxford was bad. We sat by the band and fans last year at Starkville and it was great. Ole Miss needs some work.

We may head to Red Stick in 2 months, which I’ve heard is worse.
OM fans are awful. I will not go back. Last time I went is when they threw all the trash on the field after we won a close one. msu is not much better. Last time I went we lost and and several cowbells rung in my face walking back to my car. I don't drink at games and I was with one other person who was neither a bama fan or msu fan, so I was just walking quietly to the car.

I thought it was hilarious seeing shoes being thrown on the field at the 2007 ole miss game

we were at the game this weekend too - sat in section M. Everyone around us was great and friendly. We got there about 2:30 and met some people in the grove who had a tent set up. We walked around a bit as well, and were checking out a watermelon carved out like a sharks mouth, with a stuffed elephant in the jaws - the lady who apparently set it up came out and greeted us, offered us some food, and gave us some water. Had multiple people tell me "welcome to the grove" or "welcome to Ole Miss" (we were wearing Bama shirts).
There were 3 ole miss guys sitting behind me who literally were cracking me up the whole game and we had some great conversations - one was trying to bet the other we would score over 70 by the time the game was over - they all seemed to be realistic of where their program is and ours - they had all hoped to be more competitive, and were disappointed in how their team played, but all showed great southern hospitality.

Overall, we had a GREAT experience - I wouldn't EVER want to sit near the other teams student section in any stadium, and that was probably the difference. I recommend going if you haven't done it, great venue.

Keep in mind Ole Miss fans were pretty unsure if they could win this year. If they think they have a chance to win (14,15,16) then they are slightly worse than Auburn fans on the plains.

I think it’s a slightly overrated experience compared to what they sell it as personally even without their really bad fans. It’s a high school stadium with pretty grass and a fancier quad. I think Miss St and Missouri are better environments, stadiums, and fans than them. I guess the only way I would recommend going to the Vaught is if you haven’t ever been and you are doing a stadium tour, but I would say do it towards the end of your tour. IMO

I keep seeing people talk about the Grove being better than the Quad - I know I'm biased, but they pack people into the Grove like sardines. At least there's some room to move around on the Quad.

Personally I believe neither is great, but the quad is more spacious and more easily accessible. So imo the quad is far better, but the Grove is more talked about because of its theme.

I think LSU and aTm have better main tailgating locations than both.
