Oh, don't get me started - FGs like that (25 yards-ish) are like free throws - the only reason you miss them is that you haven't put the practice in.

If I were Saban, Bulovas would kick about 100 FGs per day for the next few weeks. For everyone he missed he'd do 20 burpees. And I wouldn't even care if he was worn out by next Saturday - he's already kicking like crap, how much worse can it be?

I've no patience for 'specialists' who can't do something I could do with a few weeks of practice.
Replace "missing a field goal" with "slicing the golf ball off the tee with your driver" for yourself and then get back to me after a couple weeks. :biggrin2:

Pulled the starting QB with time still left in the 1st quarter lol. Tua might have the least amount of playing time of any starting QB in the NCAA by the end of the season this year. And that includes going to the playoffs while other teams stay home. Usually guys get pulled that early because they are playing terribly. Our guy is just too good to let him play all game- wouldn’t be fair.
We could very easily beat opponents into submission by letting Jalen stay in the game and do damage as well. He's still a really good athlete that can hurt defenses running option and what not. Tua is other worldly good. The starting offense could have scored 77 today had we kept our starters in like Ohio State does. Alabama literally barely lifted a finger and was up 49-0 at the half. Scary thing is, our team still has a lot of room for improvement.

So just flipped over to LSU-Ole Miss, and they were talking about how bad Ole Miss’s defense is. The announcer said he wouldn’t hold the Alabama game against Ole Miss because they had zero chance to stop us, lol.

Glad to get the good news on our injured OL. I could see Wills on the sideline from my seat but couldn't find Williams after halftime.

I'm not sweating the missed FGs, obviously I'd rather he make them than miss them, but it happens. You could tell he miss-hit the first one by the sound when he connected and the second one hit the upright. It's not like he missed them wildly. However, if you need something to harp on, this is a as good as anything.

Waddle is just amazing...

I was disappointed in the run defense. I want to give some credit to Ragas (sp?) the Cajun RB, as he did some of that on his own, talented kid...... but Bama will have to improve on that. The kicking game is obviously an issue, but as others have said, wasn't as bad as it looks on the stat sheet.

Legitimately asking, what are you seeing from Bulovas?

If you were coaching him him what would you do?

Without going into too many details, this is all technique and muscle memory, just like any fundamental in any sport. In practice, I would watch his technique on XP’s and make sure he is doing the same on FGs. Correct steps, lining up the kick, plant foot firm and next to the ball spot, same delivery and follow through with kicking leg, head down, and there is more with upper body getting square on ball momentum forward and turning through the kick. You master that muscle memory with XPs and then translate to FG attempts. While teaching all that, build confidence and encourage while correcting what goes wrong and what you can do better. Then you work on the snapper and holder getting their jobs down so the kicker can perform. If they are off, kicker automatically has issues that are not his fault. These things are a starting place.

I just think he needs to work on his angles. Both of the kicks he missed were close in and from the hash marks. If we had NFL hash marks he probably makes them both. The first one was pushed just a little wide right from the left side. The one from the right side hit the right upright, so it looks like he was trying not to pull it. The 40 yarder last week against A&M was right down the middle from the left hash. So get his out there working on his short angle kicks.
