Re: First Head Coaching Casualty of 2018

Actually good to see Helton retained. Seems to be a good guy. Hope he turns the corner next year.

There are reports he’s got the job. On the surface, it seems like a very weak hire.

Trying to bring back the past rarely works...these kids don't remember Mack in his heyday at NC. But then, after their response to the NCAA I would have to say that delusional is alive and well in Chapel Hill....

Agreed. The one positive is that Mack will no longer be a studio commentator or color analyst. I always found him annoying. The downside is he will probably be replaced by someone equally, or even more so, annoying.

This was my first thought as well. My second was, ain't he a washed up has been?

Yeah, but nepotism will set Mack free - intel is he's hiring his bro as "confession coordinator" so he can finally come to terms with his broken by 'Bama past:

"Elementary, my dear Watson: If Colt hadn't got hurt..."

I think he's 67 years of age. Wow! Can he still be effective in RECRUITING, etc.? If he's hired and old Les is at Kansas, is 65+ the NEW 40?
Well the POTUS is 72, so .......?

When Coach Bryant was that age, opponent coaches were telling recruits, he's not going to be around much longer. So, that hurt his recruiting.
How old was Coach Bryant when Bo Jackson graduated from McAdory H. S.?

To be fair, Coach Bryant looked 20+ years older than he was. I actually thought he was 80.
