You mean like "socialist country"?
I find it humorous that people denounce the Democrats as being the party of socialism.
Social Security - not socialist (people have income garnished, and redistributed later in life, often in an inequitable manner)
Medicaid - not socialist (people have income garnished, and redistributed later in life for healthcare, often in an inequitable manner)
Medicare - not socialist (people have income garnished, and redistributed later in life for healthcare, often in an inequitable manner)
Military Industrial Complex - not socialist (congresspeople budget for things that the military doesn't want because it provides jobs in their district, often in an inequitable manner)
Farm Subsidies - not socialist (tax money is paid to farmers not to grow things (think CRP program))
HCA - definitely socialist
College education for all - definitely socialist
The base takeaway is that things are only socialist if they benefit the young, people without a degree, or people with pre-existing conditions.
Edit: Yes I know those programs were instituted by Democrats, but they have become the third rail of politics. People are happy when they can start drawing on them, and don't see their nature as anything but something owed. I am just trying to point out that there are already many socialist policies on the books.
