[FONT=&]"Saturday’s LSU-Alabama college football game scored a 3.7 overnight rating on CBS, down 38% from last year (6.0), down 41% from 2015 (6.3), and the lowest for the rivalry since at least 2006 — the last year it was televised by ESPN…The 3.7 is also the lowest for a primetime SEC game on CBS since at least 2006."

Last year's game was also after LSU already had two losses, including one to Troy and a pulverizing at the hands of Mississippi State.
The 2015 game was a 2 vs 4 showdown.
Let's see.......
2007 - it wasn't in prime time and LSU was #3 in the nation, we were ranked, and it was Saban's first game vs his old team
2008 - 230 game, we were number one, it went overtime
2009 - #9 vs #3 and again at 230
2010 - 230 kickoff, loser was going to be eliminated from SEC race (LSU had just lost to Auburn, we had one loss vs USCe, 5 vs 12
2011 - no comment necessary
2012 - a lot of people forget this was 1 vs 5 and came down to the final seconds
2013 - prime time, 1 vs 10, game was close until late third qtr
2014 - 4 vs 14 prime time game that went into OT
If LSU had beaten Florida, the buildup wouldn't quite be 2011 (because I don't think anyone thinks the two teams are as close as those were - including the most die hard LSU fan), but it would be the closest thing we've seen.
This might be the highest rated game of the season.
