Our IT guys got us cleaned up. They had to use 8 different malware/virus cleaners to do it. Someone in the office clicked on an image and downloaded it. It spread from there. They think it was an email that appeared to be a known contact of ours.FWIW, MalwareBytes claims it defends against this particular TH.

Getting rid of them is difficult, once they get in and start wreaking their havoc. Keeping them out to begin with is always the highest priority. Our IT guys got us cleaned up. Time for the focus of ULM to turn towards your IT folks; not saying they’re not competent, they may just be overmatched. If it’s costing the company money, strong executive decisions might be in order. And it is back
Downloading image files on workplace computers from outside non-business entities should be forbidden by any company; it’s just asking for trouble. Our IT guys have traced it to an image file that got downloaded by someone in our office. My personal belief is that person should be let go. It is costing the company too much money at this point.
I was watching that show I believe it is called fact or fiction. They said that actually the porn sites are some of the safest sites to go to because they are a target and take the extra steps to keep them that way.Stay off the porn sites.
Now we have received emails with attachments from what looked like clients or consultants. Usually these are rather obvious fakes. This could have happened here, but I doubt it.Downloading image files on workplace computers from outside non-business entities should be forbidden by any company; it’s just asking for trouble.
And yes, it should be grounds for termination; if it’s in the employment agreement, it definitely is.
Our IT team at the software company I worked for from 2001-2010 knew everything we did on company computers, and several heads rolled for visiting/downloading from sketchy sites (yes, including porn).
