:biga2: RAT POISON ALERT !!! :biga2:

FanDuel sportsbook is paying out bets from people who picked Alabama to win the college football national championship -- over a month before the game will be played. The company announced Friday night it is treating the top-ranked Crimson Tide as the winners already, and paid out single-game bets to customers' online or mobile accounts.

That is beyond bizzare. I don’t understand how they are saving money by paying out that bet. But, just another reason for other fans to pull against the Crimson Tide

It "may" cost them $400,000 (low chance) but will get them $1M in publicity. Smart move.

Getting money back into the hands of betters so they'll bet something that FanDuel CAN make money on?
Hadn't thought of this. Good call here. If they're ninety percent sure they're going to pay it out anyways they might as well give the money back to be bet a half a dozen times over in the meantime

It's mainly a publicity thing. Doesn't seem like there was heavy betting on Alabama (this costs them 400K I believe), so they can pay out, get 400K worth of publicity or so and they can't lose.

After reading the article, it is in fact a PR move. Just a grab for market share.
