Step 1 will be installing the basics. What’s this alignment supposed to be with the defensive alignment overloaded to the weak side?

I thought OU did a much better job of getting aligned correctly in the Orange Bowl than the Rose Bowl last year but this is really bad. They seem to really struggle with getting aligned against formations that have more than the "standard" number of gaps to fit. Maybe the fact we're happy to be in 3 WR sets helped disguised that problem for them.

A couple of comments about Grinch:

* He is an Ohio guy, and his whole family lives in Columbus.
* He wanted to stay at OSU, but as the DC.
* Schiano was Day's choice, so he is leaving.
* He is not a great recruiter - a number of recruits have actually commented publicly that they did not feel like he gave them enough attention.
* He was the safeties coach as well as co-DC this year, and we allowed the most big plays in our history.
* So, he did not perform well as a recruiter and his position group did not perform well.

I wish him well. He will certainly be an improvement at OU, and he is young (39 years old) - lots of time to mature before coming home again.
