In these types discussions it is commonly said "Players today are better than players back then" and a big fat "period" is unfairly dropped on the conversation. When in actuality, if Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays etc. would have grown up in the era that players of today did. They would have had the same access to the nutritional and training advancements that enables today's athletes to be "bigger, stronger, and faster". But "bigger, stronger and faster" isn't synonymous with "better" or superior.

Give the above mentioned legends access to the same training and nutritional culture of today's athletes and I can promise you each one of them would put Adam Ottavino out of a job from tattooing his pitching off the walls, over the walls and into the gaps. He'd probably have a crick in his neck after looking backwards after pitching to these guys.
