And my observation of both Tyson and Taulia is they aren't afraid of the big games.
It's seldom we see young Quarterbacks with their poise, and confidence.
IT'S GONNA BE INTERESTING TO WATCH THESE GUYS.
They've already played at a pretty high level (as high as possible in HS football in Alabama) and played on national t.v. in an epic game.

I think they'll both ball out and make each other better and I imagine they'll both learn alot from Tua and Coach Enos!!!

Taulia appears to be a little shorter than Tua, but that could change.
The main "negative" I've heard in regards to Taulia is that he is a couple of inches shorter than Tua. Most of what I've read has rated him as good as Tua, or some say better, at the same stage of development.

Alabama got back to practice Monday afternoon.

Here are some notes from the media viewing period:

— Tua Tagovailoa was again practicing and again moving around better than you’d expect from someone who suffered a severe high ankle sprain two weeks ago.

— Freshman outside linebacker Eyabi Anoma wasn’t present during the media viewing period.

— Outside linebacker Terrell Lewis was again going through drills.

— Left guard Deonte Brown, who has been dealing with a turf toe injury, was practicing.

— Some former players were in attendance for practice. Nico Johnson and Bradley Sylve were talking with staffer Burton Burns during the media viewing period.
Shout out to Andalusia’s son Nico Johnson!

Here are some observations from the open period:

As expected, players who were missing while at graduation on Saturday afternoon were all back today. Nothing to worry about there.
Tua Tagovailoa (ankle) practiced and seemed to be doing all the footwork drills we normally see with the quarterbacks. Hard to tell how heavily his ankle was wrapped from where we stood, but he didn’t have a full sleeve on his leg like he had over the weekend.
Our angle didn’t give us a very good view of the wide receivers, so I’m not sure if he practiced, but we did see early enrollee John Metchie around the building earlier in the day. As we reported on Saturday, Paul Tyson and Pierce Quick were already practicing.
OLB Terrell Lewis (ACL) was going through individual drills with a brace on his knee. Did not see Chris Allen (ACL).
Deonte Brown (turf toe) was practicing but not with the first or second team offensive line. Lester Cotton remained the starter at LG. The second team, left to right, was Scott Lashley, Emil Ekiyor, Chris Owens, Joshua Casher and Matt Womack.
Players have told us this week that freshman wide receiver Slade Bolden (who is redshirting) is playing scout team QB this week. He’s filled that role at several points this season.
Didn’t see him at practice but guess who stopped by the building earlier today:
Bart Star was also at practice.

And finally:

Wow...look at the 70's. Now look at it since '09. Really proves CNS point he's made a few times: It's easier to win a NC these days than it is to win the SEC.
Well it wasn't prioritized to have consistent conference schedules and there was certainly no championship game. Alabama had years where they'd play 6 conference games and others where they played 8 conference games. Alabama had several schools they only infrequently played such as UGA. Due to this there would've been an opportunity for co-champions frequently until the schedule standardization, overtime, and conference championship game came in 1990s. Of course, this was not the case in the 1970s because Alabama only lost 7 conference games in the decade and frequently completed the conference schedule undefeated and untied.

It’s taken 85 years to build that wall. Some people think conference championships don’t matter.
Depends purely upon context.

In terms of determining the four best teams to play for the National Championship, conference championships don't necessarily matter. Nor should they. Had Northwestern upset Ohio State in the Big 10 championship game, that wouldn't and shouldn't have had any bearing on their consideration for inclusion in the playoff.

Now, in terms of a program's success in a given season and historically, conference championships certainly do matter.

Plus, conferences can award conference championships without having a conference championship game; the championship may not settle every year on the field like it is now, and it certainly won't generate the same TV money. But, if any of these proponents for an 8-team playoff want to get serious, they have to remove the conference championship game.

Some good news for today!

Here are some observations from the limited access period provided to the media:
— Freshman outside linebacker Eyabi Anoma was back after taking what Alabama coach Nick Saban characterized as a “personal day..to sort some things out" on Monday.
— Tua Tagovailoa looked mobile and agile as he went through drills with the rest of the quarterbacks. In one such exercise, he went side-to-side as he moved forward before tossing the ball. Tagovailoa is recovering from surgery on the left ankle he severely sprained in the SEC championship game.
— Several members of the 2019 class were on the field. The early enrollees present were offensive lineman Pierce Quick, quarterback Paul Tyson, defensive lineman DJ Dale and receiver John Metchie. Unlike the older players, they were in shorts and jerseys because of the NCAA-mandated five-day acclimatization period.
— The defense worked on its dime package. Jared Mayden remained one of the deep safeties with Deionte Thompson next to him. Xavier McKinney was at Money, Shyheim Carter at Star and both Saivion Smith and Patrick Surtain II at the cornerback spots. Mack Wilson was the linebacker.

Tua Tagovailoa (ankle) seemed fine and was going through quarterback drills. Don’t take my word for it, though. Nick Saban said he was ahead of schedule yesterday.Guard Deonte Brown (turf toe) was dressed out, but still not working with the first team defensive line. Saban updated his status yesterday, too. If you missed what the first two offensive lines looked like, they’re in yesterday’s notes.
Terrell Lewis (ACL) was in full pads and doing position drills with the outside linebackers. Still no sign of Chris Allen (ACL) though.
Freshman Eyabi Anoma, who was absent yesterday, practiced with the outside linebackers.
If you’re curious, freshman wide receiver Slade Bolden has been playing Kyler Murray as scout team quarterback.
Saw early enrollee wide receiver John Metchie on the practice field for the first time today. He appeared to be in jersey No. 3.
Also in practice today was Clay-Chalkville defensive tackle DJ Dale. This was his first day of practice. He wore jersey No. 72.
Saw Alabama working its dime package today for the first time in bowl prep. No changes in the personnel in that package from what we’ve seen in recent weeks.

We were so spoiled in the 70's as we are now. I remember being P/O'd when UGA won the '76 SEC title.
