Question: Offensive set w/2 or 3 backs, more productive?

I don’t know the lingo of what these formations are called but it seems our offense is trickier for our opponents and more productive. Why don’t we run these sets more?

Probably don't run em as often, because the Defense lines up to come after our Running backs. Since we don't have a Fullback to block and lead the way, a RB is a smaller blocker.

In the heyday of the Wishbone attack we ran that type play a lot, but again we had some really great linemen. We could tell them we were gonna run the ball their way, and generally they couldn't stop us.
Now we run the RPO. Different formations, but the Run Pass is nearly always there as an option.
The RPO is currently ahead of many Defenses. When we ran the Bone, we had some good receivers, but nothing like today. Today, running the RPO, we can get large chunks of yardage on any given play.

It just seems like most teams know we are running a dive right or left and makes plays predictable. Thanks

I think lining up with 2 in backfield then shifting one to slot or in motion is a good way to keep defense off balance. All three backs can catch but JJ is best. Maybe have a couple run plays out of same set.
