The Blue-Gray Game

We had guys in the Blue Gray game in 1997. I have fond memories of watching the game on Christmas. I was a kid so it looked like elite football to me.
I spent many a Christmas Day selling programs at Crampton Bowl for the Blue/Gray game. My cousin would come too sometime. My grandfather was in the Montgomery Lions Club and we would always eat a early Christmas dinner and then it was off to the game. This was from about 1965-1980 or so. It seemed to always be cold. Good times with "Papa".
Growing up in Montgomery I froze my tail off there a number of times. I remember a drawing for a truck give-away in later years. The last one I attended, maybe early to mid nineties, featured a pretty good dual threat QB from Troy. His name eludes me.
I miss this game and I wish it would come back. Of course, one reason I miss it is it was around during a time when there were so few bowl games. Not for the entirety of its run, but in the 60's and 70's when I was a kid and really enjoying it. Today, it would probably not be played on Christmas Day, or even before the New Year's Day bowls, but it would be a nice game to fit between the CFP title game and the Senior Bowl.
