Wonder if Clemson was doing some of this? If so hard to blame Tua to much considering it even confused an all-pro caliber QB like Watson..

Thing is the play almost look designed for Damien. He came out of the backfield on a delay which is usually used to make the defense think heís staying in to block. The defense bought it because there was no one on him but Tua never looked his way..

They played two high all night. Just poor decision making and taking what was given underneath and the running game was wide open. They played a bend but not break defense with sound tackling. Then bowed up in the red zone. We didnít help with our play calling inside the 10.

Can't tell if the play was meant for DH because he appears to be waiting to see if he needs to pickup a block. The way Tua goes straight to the right side of the field makes me believe the progression called for the the crossing route after the others cleared the space.

This appears to be more of Clemson's noted issue of picking up a RB out of the backfield.

Right, which is bizarre because TV analysts and others in the media harped on this before the game yet we seemed to never take advantage of it. Kind of jarring that our staff would overlook such a vulnerability in our opponent. We should have reversed the order of the passing progressions to start with the RB since Clemson had such trouble picking them up..

Guys - Tua doesn't need to change anything. You need to stop running the RPO offense and run set pays with audibles at the LOS. That way everyone knows exactly what their responsibility is on every play. Stop the indecision at the snap tied to the RPO and just dominate your opponent. You have the best players in the country. Stop with the trickeration and just line up and beat them.

In the postgame thread, I posted several of Cubelic's video clips of the OL play. Between the OL play and some of the calls, I think the lack of preparation might have been due to guys already gone to a new job.

Yep, we got too cute and "gimmicky" when we were big boy'n'um (running the ball down their throats) between the 20's. My god we had 220 total yards in the first quarter.

I kind of agree. Heck, the way we were running the ball against Clemson, regular play action passes would have been devastating. It's wild that we have this wide open explosive offense but the best path to victory was just to run the ball, dump off passes to the running backs out of the backfield and take a few deep shots off play action. That would've been a much better plan than trying to hit home run passes on every play..
